Freddie. We all struggle against the threefold enemy--the world, our flesh and satan-in some way. I will pray for you. Keep faith, read the Bible, pray, find a good church to help you and minister to you, but not shun you. I hope this helps and maybe others have some words of encouragement. |

Hi Hidemi, I used to get a magazine called The Standard Bearer. It is the periodical of the Protestant Reformed Churches. It's conservative, very theological also, maybe "too Calvinist" for me. I still get some conservative Lutheran journals. Another good reference from a Baptist perspective is the Primitive Baptist Web Station: http://www.pb.org/ and Primitive Baptist Online: http://primitivebaptist.info/ I was on a e-mail list to get one of their periodicals too, but I think I unsubscribed. I am not too worried about what group or doctrinal position, but they must declare the Bible alone for what they believe and do and that Christ is the only infallible head of the Church and only Savior, that what the Bible says is sin still is sin today. I had services in my home today and that was a blessing. Best to you, friend. |

Hey there, John-UK and NY Mike. I was pondering on this more last night and a passage in Acts came to mind, where Ananias tells Saul to "arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on His name."(Acts 22:16). Here we have an example in the writings of the Apostles of a possible "prayer" to God for washing away of sins, however, I would also point out the importance of repentance and believing the Gospel...and baptism as well. Jesus taught all of this(calling, repentance, belief, baptism, "repent and believe the Gospel, He who believes and is baptized.." etc) and the Apostles repeated the same(Acts 2:38, 16:31, 22:16). I think it's important for all of this in the Christian life...repentance, calling upon God in times of need(especially when we fail), and faith alone in the once-for-all perfectly meritorious and finished work of Jesus Christ. Yes, SteveR, that is true. Some say to be saved, do this or that, but I think we need the whole works(faith, repentance, confession, prayer)..not just a prayer, not just baptism or agreement with the "correct" creed. |

Yep, a sinful act of modern society. It even shows by the fact that couples who cohabit usually end up divorcing more after marriage than those who live together after marriage. John, I agree with you here. |
