“ Great Sermon! ”
I hate to seemingly race bait, but I must comment on the person who suggested that slavery in America wasn't all bad. I'm sorry but you absolutely can never say that and be taken seriously. Just because some slaves happened to get some education doesn't discount all the horrors of that period in our history. Furthermore someone on the program stated that churches back then weren't regenerated or saved. How convenient of a statement!! Naturally they thought they were in the right. Man, only certain type of people continue to make these kind of blind statements

Please note that this was the msg that Starnes said he posted to FB. Please also note that it had absolutely nothing to do with Christianity : “Rancher Bundy should’ve told the feds that those were Mexican cows—who came across the border illegally to seek better grazing opportunities. It was an act of love.”

In some ways this stream is amusing. We can continue to argue the, so called, facts of the case until we are blue in the face and come to no resolution. Why? Because it doesn't matter. Our legal system is not based on facts but rather who argues and presents their version of facts in the best way so as to convince to juror or judge. This is why lawyers are paid big bucks. Zimmerman's lawyers did their job well. Whether what they said is true doesn't really matter. The jury believed them. It's the same principle in the OJ trial and every controversial case this country has had in recent times. It's not about truth and fighting for the victim, innocence, blah, blah, blah. Our system is extremely screwed up and only fair if u believe that those who get off vs those who get convicted actually balances out in aggregate. Thank goodness god's evidentiary court doesn't operate in such a nonsensical fashion

I would add that when God says to kill someone, it's not homicide and does not break the 6th commandment. Now some of ur translations use the word murder instead of kill but let's consider that portion of the law which refers to mans relationship with his fellow human being. One could write a Sermon on how Zimmerman did not treat Martin with love. Again, we will never know who started the fight but Zimmerman is on tape cursing Martin out. Of course Martin also calls him a crac..,, by some accounts. They both had problems but Zimmerman pursued first with NO probable cause and outside the authority of what he was requested to do by 911 operator

Yes, I forgot to mention the places where God tells the Israelites to strap swords on their sides and kill people who had sinned and other such examples. What's the point of those examples though? Those killings were under the authority of God. Police officers are under the authority of the government. Whose authority was zinmerman under? And to mike from New York, this issue is not taking up so much of my intellect. I am merely trying to point out that those of u who talk about other issues in this context muddy the waters and make any attempt at logical reasoning frankly impossible.

You guys clearly have no knowledge of American history. When the black panthers get to the level of lynching whites and forming hate groups in multiple states, then you can compare them to the KKK. Until then, you just sound petulant

Zimmerman has already tried to sue NBC. Blah blah. Most of this thread is really sanctified dribble. You all scream that you care about the loss of life but speak about crap in Chicago when that is not the issue at hand. It's a sign of intellectual weakness on all your parts. We will never know what happened that night because its zinmermans choice to say whatever is going to get him off. These stand your ground cases are never fair. In fact many trials never present the truth and people get away with murder. OJ probably did the deed yet got off. We know Zimmerman shot the kid but all you loons will do will scream self defense for a situation that zinmerman caused by getting out of his car--whether he was walking back to his vehicle is irrelevant. Pure nonsense

For those of you who take Zimmerman's statements as gospel and also talk about cities of refuge, your own words convict you. Zimmerman never said he fired his weapon by accident, he claimed self defense. Accident and so called self defense are not the same thing. The bible makes no space for killing Anyone unless it was expressly Gods will to punish some heathen nation. Are u willing to go so far as to say Zimmerman was carrying out gods will? Surely you should then be sent to an insane asylum. Killing someone is murder, plain and simple. There is no need for evidence in the court of common sense. We have a dead body people!! Sadly our courts and laws don't make sense

I really should not waste my time commenting but I really question the logic of those who think that having everyone armed will solve our problem. Can u guarantee that the armed civilian is trained, mentally stable, able to use their weapon appropriately to shoot the killer (and not anyone else), is present at the exact location the killer is (could be any movie theatre, mall, parking lot, temple, or school these days)...I could go on about the variables that you can't predict and control.

I hope all of u who are commenting on China realize that all those stabbed kids are still alive and in hospital (of course some may still die). Point: with guns u are certain to kill beause guns were invented for that strict purpose. Of course the root problem is sin and the degradation of society but too many would rather sit around and talk about and do nothing. People must chose God; you can't ram it down their throats. That's not
The message of the bible. Unfortunately American has allowed many things to perpetuate for far too long such that we may be at a point of no return. What can be done immediately is damage control but sadly, as a country, we cant decide what that should look like

“ A slur? ”
What kind of christian uses such a term to refer to anyone during a supposedly religious broadcast?

Just love how almost no one here has read or commented on what the gentleman from
Nova scotia said. So people chose to remain blind to what the true kernels of Christian faith. Judgment starts with the house of faith. Worry first about ur own judgement and those in ur church, family, etc. who did Christ call to change their ways? It wasnt the "pagan, unholy, gentile" Roman govt!! It was Jews, especially hypocritical Pharasees

Rarely do u get such a biblically sound analysis of political events on this site. Christians should put their faith in no man. The church comes out as gold only through adversity l, such is his message

Especially to Mark and jpw, I have read ur posts on another thread. Instead of raising perhaps unfounded fears of eugenics and the like, how
Many of us are silently going out there to change society so that parents are not in a situation where they feel the need to abort, or change the rules for adoption so that thousands of kids aren't left sitting on abortion roles?

If we call abortion murder then society certainly has a right to forbid it, as we do murder of those who have been born. Yet are the methods that r being used today the most practical, logical or effective or loving means?

It is sad that people who have strong moral and religious opinions about abortions are rarely willing to discuss how society at large will provide for these women and their unwanted babies. Someone does eventually end up paying for it, you know. The notion that this is just encouraging people to be promiscuous completely misses the point. Unwanted kids often end up in foster homes or on the streets. This is not always the case but they are also rife for developmental and social problems down the line. It's not just about our religious beliefs. There are an ever increasing # of Americans who don't share those beliefs. Forcing them to do so is no different than the radical Muslims that people these days love to criticize

I love how so called Christians can't keep their politics our of faith. This was apparently spoken at a church, the reporter said a mild profanity that we generally don't allow kids to say and she never mentioned Obama's name. Yet what does the headline claim?
