Unity and Continuity wrote: God annulled the covenant He had with the nation Israel. But God has never never annulled the covenant of Grace which HE maintains with the "true Israel." That Covenant is eternal by the work and purpose of God and since the foundation of the world when He made it with our Mediator. Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Covenant "unto" them, not with them. |

Unity and Continuity wrote: Rom 9:6 For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: # Verse teaches TWO peoples in Israel - ONE Remnant. TWO Reprobate. Guess which one God makes the Covenant with. Therefore this demonstrates covenant personal relationship is selective, viz election. Covenant - Is God making a personal relationship with HIS elect/Remnant. Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly." Note: God "MAKES" the covenant. Note: Between GOD and man (Abraham in this case) Note: How significant this is to have GOD Himself create this special relationship and fellowship with sinful man. Note: God makes promises for HIM to fulfil in Covenant. Note: Ultimately God (see Hodge) makes HIS OWN BELOVED SON the mediator for this Covenant. A task HE gave to Jesus before the foundation of the world. Hodge points out Christ is mediator of Covenant ON BEHALF OF ELECT, (Remnant). GOD began covenant with Adam in the very beginning of creation. ..great shepherd of the sheep, through the BLOOD of the EVERLASTING COVENANT Heb 13:20 You are all over the place and no one can make sense of your rambling nonsense. The COG was with Christ, his people are the beneficiaries, not parties to the covt! |

Bless God wrote: This is just one of many ways to pray the model prayer: Dear Father who is far, may your name be praised. Please rule us! May you do on earth just the way it's done in heaven. Give us the food we need, thanks! And forgive our sins against you as we forgive all who offend us. Please don’t put us through hard things, but prevent us from stumbling into everything bad. Because you are the one in charge, you have all the power, and the glory too! After all, this is yours forever, which is just the way we want it! No! It is a pattern prayer teaching the different components that should make up genuine prayer. |

SteveR wrote: ..Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye "After this manner..." DOES NOT MEAN using these exact words! This is NOT a command to regurgitate the prayer in a liturgical fashion. |

Jordan River Rat wrote: Dispensationalism is naturally going to claim that the manifestations of the Spirit are no longer present in this age. Dispensationalist need to focus on the Kingdom of God coming in power and understand what that means to the acts of God manifested in the new Covenant for Jews and Gentiles who are one in Christ. Not just dispensationalists, but pretty all Reformed churches too. |

John UK wrote: Now if you were to say, "Go out into all the world and preach the gospel, firstly by defining and condemning sin, revealing the eternal and temporal consequences of it, bringing forth, if the Spirit wills it, a conviction of sin and contrition for sin, then pouring in the gospel balm of forgiveness through the shed blood of Christ, thus bringing to pass repentance and faith in a poor sinner's heart, wrought by God and effectual, that he may be justified by faith in Jesus Christ apart from works .... then I would totally agree with you, because that is biblical. That doesn't work which is why the murder of innocent babies still goes on in your civilised society. What you have suggested has never stopped abortion, murder or any of the evil crimes which humans commit. So perhaps you need to get back to the point brought up by Pill Kills and stop with the ambiguity. |
