msc,

Yes I also affirm to the five solas. I did not know they were also called The five Protestant principles but it makes sense.

Yes, I would still consider myself Reformed Baptist, but my beliefs on the mode of baptism has changed. I believe the most Scriptural mode of baptism is sprinkling or pouring.

Unlike the majority of Reformed Baptists I believe in singing the Psalms exclusively and not observing the pagan Christmas and Easter Roman Catholic holidays.

JD,

If you need me to answer your question I will.

You said, "Is it a sin to be concieved or not?"

It is NOT a sin to be concieved. This is the will of God. God is the auther of life.

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, BE FRUITFUL, AND MULTIPLY, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
(Gen 1:27-28)

You also asked,

"Are infants who die, not knowing good or evil, charged with sin and sent to hell?"

Infants are shapen in iniquity because they are of Adam. We are all charged with sin because we are all born in sin and we will all die because of the penalty of Adam's sin.

The only way a baby will go to heaven is if they are redeemed through the precious blood of Christ. Christ said he laid down His life for the sheep. Maybe all those babies who have died in infancy or by abortion are the elect of God. The Word of God does not tell us what happens to infants when they die. The Scriptures are silent in this area.

JD,

You said, "It is dishonest for you to refuse to explain it."

First of all, this passage is God's Word and it explains itself clearly.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
(Psa 58:3)

Second, I was not intending to be dishonest, but present some biblical evidence as to why we are born in sin of Adam's race.

JD, I am surprised you don't know what a commentary is, well let me give you the meaning from a dictionary.

Commentary

A comment; exposition; explanation; illustration of difficult and obscure passages in an author.

Your commentary on Psalm 51:5 is blasphemous.

JD,

You said, "He is talking about the wicked here, but he made no mention of the righteous. Do you think those of us who are saved were never estranged and have spoken no lies?"

Yes we were estranged and have spoken lies, but this is what the Scriptures teach, that we are sinful and born in sin, but you deny the obvious truths.

JD, you can call me what you like and if "launch it and leave it Joe" sounds good to you then please feel free to use it.

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
(Matthew 4:4)

BTW, your commentary on Psalm 51:5 is blasphemous.

JD,

You said, "He is a righteous judge. He will not condemn an aborted baby or an infant or someone who does not know his right hand from his left. You would do that but not him."

I agree God is a righteous judge but not on your terms of righteousness!

If God does not condemn those who do not know their right hand from their left, then why did Jonah preach to the Ninevites?

And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
(Jon 3:4-5)

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
(Jon 4:11)

Why does God include judgment upon the little ones?

Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
(Isa 13:16)

O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
(Psa 137:8-9)

Man dies because of sin. This was the result of the fall in the garden.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
(Gen 2:16-17)

Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden and death was the consequence.

If Adam’s sin in the garden is not upon all mankind then why do all die as though they had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil themselves?

Although we did not actually commit that sin, it’s effects were and are upon all mankind. That is why we are born in sin and not born innocent. This is what is meant by original sin.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
(Rom 5:12)

What is the source or origin of man's sin nature?

JD states, "However, we are not condemned by sin until we consciously and deliberately with knowledge and forethought commit a sin. Then we are sinners in need of a saviour."

In other words JD is saying we are not born with sin but we become sinful when we actually commit a sin. Man is born innocent without sin.

This reasoning automatically causes one to think that we can perfectly obey the law of God and have the power to do so. This leads to the idea that we are not completely fallen creatures, but there is some good in us that by our own freewill and strength we can actually save ourselves, which is totally contrary to God's Word.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
(Rom 3:10-11)

Then why does every man that is born commit sin? There has not been one man in history who has not committed sin, except Jesus Christ, Emmanuel who is God and man.

Christ was sinless because he is God, but also he was not conceived of a man of the line of Adam, but of the Holy Ghost in the womb of the virgin Mary.

Why do all men die?

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

JD,

BTW, there were sons of God before the cross.

Gen 6:1-2 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, (2) ***That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.***

John Gill's Commentary states:

"...this is to be understood of the posterity of Seth, who from the times of Enos, when then began to be called by the name of the Lord, Gen_4:25 had the title of the sons of God, in distinction from the children of men; these claimed the privilege of divine adoption, and professed to be born of God, and partakers of his grace, and pretended to worship him according to his will, so far as revealed to them, and to fear and serve and glorify him...."

JD,

Christ is God-man and when He died on the cross as the Son of God, He died as God-man. The incarnation of Christ shows us that Christ is God man.

Jesus Christ is Emmanuel, meaning "God with us."

Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Jesus Christ was God-man because He was conceived of the Holy Ghost in the womb of the virgin Mary.

Mat 1:20 "take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."

Christ was not conceived of a man or that would not have made him to be God, but a sinner from the line of Adam.

This is what makes the doctrine of original sin very true and man is born a sinner and not innocent.

JD,

You said,

"One of the major doctrines, the ordo salutis, has suffered a severe hit simply by a comparison to the truth. The Calvinists were not able to show how they came up with the order except through calvinism itself and we know calvin was a man. Therefore it is a man made doctrine."

I suppose this is your justification to deny the truth of the Scriptures, as for me I am more solidified in the biblical doctrines of grace then ever before.

Those who adhere to the Word of God and the doctrines of grace have been verbally persecuted by those who believe in freewill.

Our words have been misrepresented and we have been falsely accused of things we never said or believed.

Assumptions and judgements have been made without fair discussion and examination.

We have been told we are cults and murderers.

When we place valid points concerning the doctrines of grace from the Scriptures, the discussion is detracted and debased to mockery and irreverence.

Much more could be said, but God will be the judge between us.

DB,

You said, “Question is, what happenen to the person if he dies being regenerated, born-again and has not yet come to faith and repentence?”

Regeneration and faith are simultaneous. There is no time in between, once one is regenerated by the Holy Spirit and born again they have faith and not faith only, but faith that produces works.

It is not by faith one is regenerated or one can quicken himself being dead in trespasses and sins, without the work of the Holy Spirit. How can this be?

Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Therefore I conclude salvation is of the Lord and not of ourselves. When one is regenerated he has faith and those who are regenerated are justified. That’s why regeneration precedes faith.

Tit 3:5-7Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs...

2Th 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

JD,

You said, “Joe concluded that justification is by works, and not faith only:”

Did I say that justification is by works, and not faith only?

No, it was not me, but the Word of God.

“Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” (James 2:24)

This is the inspired Word of God and not my words. I summarized by the Scriptures how one is justified as follows.

1.justified freely by his grace (Romans 3:24)
2.man is justified by faith (Romans 3:28)
3.justified by his blood (Romans 5:9)
4.justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)
5.justified by the faith of Christ (Galations 2:16)
6.justified by Christ (Galations 2:17)
7.being justified by his grace (Titus 3:7)
8.by works a man is justified, and not by faith only (James 2:24)

Who did God justify?

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
(Rom 8:30)

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
(1Co 6:11)

Firstly, Where do these works come from?

These works are produced in those whom God has predestinated and called, born again of the Spirit of God or regenerated and have been justified by grace, by the blood of Christ, by faith and by the faith of Christ.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; That being justified by his grace... (Tit 3:5-7)

Secondly, what is this saving faith that produces works?

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
(Jam 1:22-23)

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
(Jam 1:27)

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law…But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts…(Gal 5:18,22-25)

Compare Galations 2:16 to James 2:24

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
(Gal 2:16)

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
(Jam 2:24)

Notice Paul says “a man is not justified by the works of the law” and James states “by works a man is justified and not by faith only”. James does not say “works of the law” but “works”. Then the question arises: Where do these works come from and what is this saving faith that produces works?
