Next Sunday (07/30), we will serve the LORD’S SUPPER. We will serve lunch in our dining hall after all the worship services.
As a man is brought to recognize the complete work of CHRIST upon Calvary’s cross, then and only then will his glory be only in that cross. When he thinks of salvation, he thinks of CHRIST and HIM crucified. When he thinks of FAITH, he thinks of CHRIST and HIM crucified, for indeed it is the faith OF CHRIST which HE glories in. When he thinks of RIGHTEOUSNESS he rejoices in the HOLINESS of CHRIST and the imputation of HIS righteousness. When he thinks of “good works” he thinks of that which CHRIST performed(s) both by HIS death and HIS life. When HE thinks of SANCTIFICATION, he rejoices in that sanctifying work of CHRIST in the behalf of HIS people. The same is true when he thinks of obedience, for he sees CHRIST who was obedient unto HIS FATHER even unto death. HE thinks of HIM when HE thinks of self-denial, for it was CHRIST who prayed “Not my will but THINE be done.” When he thinks of mortification he remembers HIM who was tempted in all points like as we are, yet was without sin. When he thinks upon the pleasures of this world, he looks to CHRIST who loved not LIFE even unto death as HE told HIS disciples, “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” (John 14:30) This is to be “crucified with CHRIST” yet to live by the faith of the SON of GOD who loved us and gave HIMSELF for us. If this be antinomianism then I am indeed an “antinomian.”

We are gathered here today to worship the Lord by lifting up the Lord Jesus Christ and praising God in the truth of the glory of His grace in our salvation by Christ. There’s no truth that inspires worship from God’s people more than the blessed fact that our salvation is totally of the Lord and not of ourselves. Knowing the depths of our sin and depravity we glory in Christ Jesus because He has given us a true, sincere, and valid desire to sing HIS praise and not our own. With that in mind, read the two articles on the back of this bulletin both which deal with the subject. –Pastor Bill Parker
SALVATION IS TOTALLY OF THE LORD!
If God the Holy Spirit ever convinces us of our sin and depravity, we will be convinced also that salvation is totally of the Lord and nothing of ourselves. The way of salvation by God’s free and sovereign grace through the Lord Jesus Christ is necessary, not because it meets man’s natural desires. By nature (as we are naturally born in sin, without spiritual life) we do not desire salvation GOD’S WAY because it leaves us no room to glory in ourselves (Rom. 3:10-12). By nature we desire salvation our way because it seems right to us as it is covered with our own imagined goodness, and our own works, decisions, and determinations. But it is a way of death (Prov. 14:12; 16:25). God’s way of salvation by grace meets man’s natural NEEDS. What are our needs? We need righteousness, but we cannot work one, not even with our best efforts. We need spiritual life, but we cannot create life. We find these only in Christ Who is the righteousness and life of God’s people. As our Surety and Substitute, Christ alone established righteousness for us on the cross. And in working righteousness for us, He gives spiritual life to us by His Spirit. This is totally the work of God. God does the work, and we are the result – sinners saved by His grace! Consider – If you truly believe in Christ and sincerely desire to worship Him, then you are the recipient of the gift of salvation by God’s free and sovereign grace. –Pastor Bill Parker
The Bible is clear that salvation is totally the work of God. We can do nothing to secure salvation for ourselves (Romans 3:20). The Lord chooses us (John 15:16), draws us to Himself (John 6:44), gives us life (John 14:6), and preserves us (John 10:28). The new birth is not the result "of human decision" (John 1:13). Just as the Lord brought life to the valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37), Jesus "gives life to whom he is pleased to give it" (John 5:21). At the same time, the Bible commands everyone to repent (Acts 3:19, 17:30) and to believe in Christ (Acts 16:31). The fact that we are commanded to repent commands an exercise of the will, but it is will that comes with a new heart given by God. How is one saved? By grace through faith, and even faith is a gift created through the hearing of God’s Word (Romans 10:17). Salvation does not come by walking an aisle or raising a hand. Saying a prayer does not save anyone. Reading and filling out a religious questionnaire cannot save. Salvation is the work of God making a new spiritual creation, something only HE can accomplish. –Copied
