G.G.,

Much said with itty bitty.
They may be witty.

You a'int sittin pretty.
A'int that a pity.

You must repent!
And that a'int Lent.

Same old song.
Rome is wrong.

Jim,

Good post on the organized thievery with indulgences.

GG.

The Vatican.
Ruled by a man.

The pope wanted his castle.
No major hassle.

Finding a grand scheme?
Simple for a man so mean.

Indulgence-twist Scripture like a pretzel.
Now where is Mr. Tetzel?

Sins punishments are killed.
If you help us build.

His sale of letters.
Tightened the fetters.

Corrupt! Echoed a brave monk.
Indulgence has always stunk.

Unlike us.
Wycliffe and Hus.

Voices unheard.
Never deterred.

Indulgences, the papacy no stronger.
Christ's death, an offering no longer.

This wild boar.
Would soar and soar.

Luther himself was once a priest.
Hope when man sees himself a beast.

LUKE 5:8

Cliff,

Thank-you for the encouragement. If the Lord provides I will be coming and hopefully looking you up somehow to maybe have some good Christian fellowship.

Mike,

"The others? Excused."
Exactly, because our media is far-left and the people are duped(as the world)because we are dumbed-down today in comparison to the past and the daily newspaper is their only or main vehicle of information.
Global Crossing is one example of how the corrupt Democratic Party(the Reps. are corrupt also)is seen as "Mr. Clean" through the years by immediately downplaying and hiding this scandal because it involved campaign contributions to the party of the left.
Incidentally, I believe that the Global Crossing affair preceded Enron. A good article on this is by Tom Barret at Conservative.org. The world will foolishly lay down the red silk before the smiling Mr. Obama the same way it did for Mr. Clinton.
Btw I sort of remember reading that prior to the Watergate scandal the Dem. Party had done the same thing but it was hidden in a small paragraph somewhere off of the front page.

Hypocritically they put

Both Global Crossing and Enron were corrupt. However, Global Crossing was financing the Democratic campaigns while Enron was contributing to both the Democrats and the Republicans. I believe that at the time, Global Crossing's bankruptcy was the 4th. largest in U.S. history. The point is simply that the mass media in the U.S. today is overwhelming far-left leaning
and actually objective news reporting is very hard to find.

Cliff,

Greetings! Continue to seek righteousness and justice. Although we go forth with the gospel of reconciliation we must always be active for righteousness. You have done a good thing. Please pray for President Obama. God's will be done nevertheless I pray that he will become saved and have a Christian world view. Even in hard times it is good for us as Christians. Unfortunately we can be stubborn and sometimes we need judgment and trials ourselves for spiritual growth and devotion to the Lord.

"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." Psalm 37:7

ps. God willing some day I would like to visit both Ireland and Scotland and hopefully to be able to write out a bag full of tracts and bring them along with me. JOB 42:2

For those outside the USA it has been reported that over 90% of the mass media today in America are far-left, socialist and even Communist in their political allegiance(registration). Expect a blowup of Mr. Obama. You will have to go elsewhere than the mainstream American media to get the truth.
For example the mass media put the Global Crossing scandal on the bottom shelf and then exploded with the Enron episode(who incidentally asked for government help at the end). Global Crossing of course was a major contributor to the Democratic campaingns and eclipsed the Enron bankruptcy. The socialist American media made sure to cement the Enron situation in peoples minds and subdue to elimination of the Global Crossing scandal. Who remembers, Terry McAuliffe and his 18,000% profit from Global Crossing in less than two years(pulling out immediately before the crash). Nothing about windfall profits and Clinton slush funds and paybacks but nothing except Halliburton. Hmmm, some investigative reporting???

Assyria, deserves punishment.

Partial-birth abortion a deadly trauma.
Smiling evil is Mr. Obama.

Neil,

Greetings! I would say that my previous pastor used inductive reasoning there and I would presume that the majority of people(if you would allow that here)would agree that death indeed would be connoted with the ingestion of too much of a toxic substance.
As the term is commonly used toxic would be referred to as a poison. In general, if people ingest too much water they will be terribly uncomfortable or a bit sickly. Death is surely an extreme. Insects may die from ingesting a small amount of a toxic insecticide but not from a small amount of water no matter their condition.

It appears that the Church Growth Movement is effecting nearly all denominations today in one way or the other. The goal is numbers. The method is entertainment.
As far as alcolhol having the possibility of being lethal, I might relate one of my first(now retired and in ill health) pastor's pre-salvation stories. There was an occasion in a NYC bar that a man guzzled a bottle of whiskey. He fell to the ground and later they took him out dead. Obviously, most are able to drink a gallon of lesser % alcolhols such as beer and survive but alcohol is toxic to the body.

Mark M.,

Not an economist but you surely have good ole common sense. You hear all of these pompous predictors of the economy state how they foresaw this 1,2 or even 5 years ago. Well, there is a man, Larry Burkett, who predicted this all(including the large gov. bail out) 20 YEARS AGO! I believe you can still obtain his book on-line, something like,
"The Coming Great Economic Collapse". It basically shows how the U.S. gov. has been deficit spending for over half a century and was eventually doomed. One thing he shared is that our gov. has learned to extend a recession
(instead of letting it correct itself)
by printing more money which simply makes it worse in the long run; hyper-inflation and a depression.
Oh yeah, he stated that this is not just a U.S. phenonemon, as almost the entire world has this view towards gov. spending. With Obama I guess they'll be minten for Clinton again. Notice the phrase, "...only government...", timber!

Faith,

I believe that you and Molly are godly women. I ask for your prayers, especially when you see me being a stumbling block to another dear brethren.
Honestly, I really don't have the time to be on this site however after being introduced to it I not only have listened to sermons(what a blessing)but find myself commenting occasionally.
Since the Lord saved me I have an overarching burden for the truth but from time to time I am reminded that I need to speak the "truth in love".(Eph.4; Prov.3:3)
I truly thank our most gracious God for your soft heart. Both of your husbands have surely been blessed by God.
In Christ's Love,
Have a "grace day"!

"Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her,"

Faith,

I was seriously trying to be helpful and hopefully not condescending but I surely need prayer, also. I have many faults and weaknesses and the Lord is so merciful and good to me. I honestly love all the people of God. We are far from perfect here in Hbg. Thank-you.

In Christ
Job 1:8
ps. Even though I fall way short of this verse, I love it, and use it a lot because it shows me that this is attainable by a person like us.

Molly,

In being like the Prov. 31 women you do well; "She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness."(v. 27) However, do I see a bit of resentment, bitterness and sarcasm?

II Thessalonians 3:12, "Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread."

Scripture tells us to really be contented and not complainers and to not be men-pleasers but to do everything as unto the Lord and to not be envious of one another but to have the mind of Christ and to have fellowship with one another by being humble and consider others more than ourselves.
I can tell that you desire to please the Lord and I will be praying for you.

Have a "grace day"!

Mike,

By the grace of God a remnant can still be found.

Faith,

Our salvation has everything to do with our behavior. Before salvation our relationship with God is estranged. There is neither the desire or power to obey Him. Btw, I believe that the ideal situation would be for the believing mother to be a keeper at home, esp. when the children are young. However, there may be a tiny window open for part-time work(Prov. 31)if entirely necessary(distinguishing between real wants and needs here).
Like the celebrated Biblical pattern of wives and mothers of Prov. 31, Titus 2 and I Pet.3, mothers:
-nurture their children by diligently teaching them God's Word when they sit in the house, walk by the way lie down and rise up. This cannot be satisfactorily achieved when the parents are both working outside the home between 40 to 60 hours a week!
-love their husbands when they joyfully submit to them.
-are faithful to the Lord when they deny SELF.
Staying away from home may very well be a spiritual indicator.
