2 Samuel 15-17 gives us the history for Psalm 55. David's world is falling apart, the pressure is intense and Psalm 55 is the result.
The four-fold process of pressure: Frustration (vs. 1-2) Isolation (vs. 6-8) Retribution (vs. 9, 15) Humiliation (vs. 12-14)
A proper perspective on pressure: Stability (v. 16) Salvation (v. 16) Sustaining power (v. 22)
Application: What pressures are you presently dealing with? Can you relate to David's responses in verses 1-15? Have you ever felt the sting of betrayal by a close friend or a relative? Do you have a proper perspective on pressure? (vs. 16-22)
