The topic of Post-Modernism is not usually a familiar one to most Christian believers. It does not have its origin in the Christian church but nevertheless it has entered the culture, the church and individual Christian thinking to the extent that it has become a highly significant factor in the world today. This has occurred slowly and subtly without sufficient awareness on the part of Christians. We have been exploring Post Modernism in this age, generally, and now its entry into the Church in particular. We have introduced the “Emerging Church” where Post-Modern thinking not only denies the clear teaching of Scripture but the message of Jesus and the Gospel itself. Tonight's session explores the meaning of “evangelism,” the practical outreach to the community with the “good news” of the Gospel as formulated by the emerging church. Understandably, the “good news” of the Gospel will acquire an unusual flavor in the doctrine of the emerging church. Understanding that change to the biblical doctrine of salvation gives an important insight as to what the emerging church actually believes, or does not believe.
A Course Notebook is being developed concurrently with this series on “Worldviews in Collision – Post Modernism vs Christianity.” It will be offered at the conclusion of the course at a nominal charge on request.
