Today I will continue our new sermon series, which will consist of an expository study through the book of Ecclesiastes. At this point we are still in the introduction to the series. Last time we considered the subject of wisdom according to King Solomon, and now we want to look at wisdom according to James. In this sermon I will expound the contrast that James makes between the two different kinds of wisdom. One type is from heaven and is spiritual, while the other type is humanistic and therefore carnal in nature. James will also exhort Christians to manifest spiritual wisdom and I will spend some time reinforcing precisely what he means by this. The basic thrust of this sermon will be to clarify the true essence of wisdom, which is really moral in nature. There will be specific points of application in order to drive the point home. Once again it is my prayer is that the Lord will be pleased to bless the preaching of His word as we commence this important study.
