With the advent of the New Covenant all that pertained to the Old Covenant changed, apart from the Moral Law. We have already considered the Kingdom and the King. Now we come to the High Priest of our Profession. The Epistle to the Hebrews has seven chapters devoted to this subject. We should carefully read through the Epistle to the Hebrews until we have a good understanding of what is their clearly taught. Christ offered up one sacrifice for sin forever. He is the only High Priest, ordained by God with an oath. His is an everlasting priesthood, an effective priesthood, which accomplishing all that it was ordained to accomplish. The rending of the veil in the temple, at Jerusalem, was the death knell, so to speak, of the Old Covenant. By the shedding of His blood, Christ ratified the New Covenant. Why then do we have Christians preaching that the Temple will be rebuilt, the Aaronic priesthood restored and the sacrifices of the Old Covenant, which could never take away sin, reinstated. I would have to say that I am amazed that Evangelical Christians believe such, which can only be described as heresy.
