This is a strikingly important passage. There is such a thing as a mature wealthy understanding of doctrine and practice. There is also such a thing as being dirt poor both doctrinally and relationaly--usually in that order. Ministerial purpose is to produce mature Christians--"present every man perfect." This requires focused labor, appropriately controversial, godly anxiety (there is such a thing), and the absolute necessity of understanding apostolic doctrine. The stakes involved in coming to maturity or failing to do so are huge.
