Basic Information
Introduction
Community Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist Church. Our church's ministry can be sketched out in four hyphenated words: Bible-governed, Christ-centered, Family sensitive, Applied-separation. First, we are Bible-governed. We believe that the scriptures are God-breathed. This being the case, our pastor and others who fill teaching roles, seek to be text based. The holy scriptures, the best we are able to interpret and apply them, govern us. Christ, the head of the church, communicates with the body, by means of the scriptures.
Second, we seek to be Christ-centered in our thinking and doing. In the revelation of Himself to man, God has made Jesus Christ central in the Godhead. "Christ is all."
Third, we are family-sensitive. By this we mean that we recognize the divine plan and design of the family. We seek to nurture healthy families according to the biblical pattern which deviates very significantly from the world's understanding of the family. If you are a football coach with a great running back on your team, it is wisdom to give him the ball frequently. Parents are the God-designated ball-carriers in the family. A family-sensitive church gives the family the ball to do the work of the ministry as a family. If the parents are not great spiritual ball-carriers then we focus on helping them become better parents. We loathe the entertainment centered mentality of much modern youth ministry. Leading young people to believe that the Christian life is a "blast" is evil. Leading parents to believe that their young people are better off under the tutelage of a "youth pastor" who took some courses on youth at college than they are under their own tutelage is malpractice. In theory most parents agree with us on this. In practice most parents in broader evangelicalism do not agree. Their kids are in youth ministry. They are therefore, okay.
Fourth, we give attention to applied separation. "Be ye holy, for I am holy" is a commandment in both Old and the New Testament. Exodus 33:16 says, "For wherein shall it be known here that I and Thy people have found grace in Thy sight? Is it not that You go with us? So shall we be separate, I and Thy people from all the people on the face of the earth." God's people are to be a separated people. In broader evangelicalism the word "separation" and the practice of personal and ecclesiastical is strenuously avoided. Thus we are in a great crisis. Evangelical Christianity is materialistic, entertainment-oriented, self-focused, and self-indulgent. Therefore, it is not so much Obama and the social progressives that we need to fear. It is God who will vanquish such a untoward entity. Holiness and grace are contemporaneous principles. Therefore we seek to apply the principles of personal and ecclesiastical separation as we find them in the scriptures.

We are a small church, yet we have had about 26,500 downloads of messages from our ministry. We have had visitors come to the church from hearing us on SermonAudio. This is a "sound" investment of time and money!
