A Glimpse of Coming Glory
This is not going to happen the way you are expecting it to happen. This is one of the challenges of the "prosperity gospel"--they want the kingdom now. Yet it was God's will to send His Son in weakness. this is not only true of the Messiah, it is also true of true Christians. In this world Christians will suffer and be rejected. Yet at the return of Jesus all of that shame, suffering and rejection will turn to glory for God and His people. So Jesus helps His disciples to see the actual glory to which they have been called. He is transformed before them so that they are stunned! God the Father speaks and compels all who hear to keep their eyes on the Son. This is a glimpse of the second coming--the prophecy is certain. We will see the glory of God in the face of Christ! We will be reunited with saints who have already entered God's presence. These disciples are seeing a glimpse of coming glory, a glory we shall all soon see.
