Fourth, He can correct you from sin. He rebukes you of sin in your life that He may reprove you from sin.
The example of the disciples shows sinful practices to shun. God disapproves of sin and judges all sin, large or small. It separates you from Him and breaks your fellowship with Him.
I remind you of two Scripture references that demonstrate these consequences.
Isaiah 59:1-2: "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: {2} But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."
1 John 1:6: "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:"
Cry out to God in confession and repentance of the sin that the Holy Spirit has identified in your life. In grace and mercy, He will abundantly pardon. I pray that the Spirit of God will drive you to Jesus Christ for relief.
Conformity To The Truth
Fifth, the Holy Spirit can conform you to the truth. He can work in you to modify your thoughts, opinions, beliefs, and actions to God's word.
Through repentance, the Spirit adjusts your behavior to God's word. He wants you to trust Him to do exactly as He said He would do. He wants you to distrust self and to deny self that you might glorify God and exalt your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Repentance produces fruit. It humbles the transgressor and glorifies God. The repentant one brings praise and honor to the Father. The Spirit conforms you to the image of Jesus and exalts Him in your life.
Completion Unto Good Works
Finally, the Holy Spirit can complete you unto good works. The revelation and reaffirmation of the truth, the rebuke of sin, reproof from sin, and repentance from sin has one goal: spiritual reformation and revival.
Course Of Action
How will you respond to these truths that the Holy Spirit has revealed to you? You have three options.
First, you can reaffirm their validity in your life, which results in the comfort, power, and presence of God.
Second, you can reject them by taking refuge in lies that keep you from faith and obedience. Further, you can reject them by denying or delaying their immediate application in your life. Regardless, you fail to believe and obey them.
If you make this choice, realize what will happen to you when you refuse to believe and obey the truth. You will:
• stand accountable to God for your sin; • suffer the consequences of your sin; • sustain God's judgment for your sin; and • sense the removal of God's presence.
Remember God's requirements of mankind. He commands personal holiness, faith, and obedience to His word. Further, He demands immediate repentance from sin without delay.
Third, you can repent from your sin and respond to these truths in your life. You can rely upon the Holy Spirit to empower you to obey them and to enable you to believe the truth.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will clarify for you the truth, convict you of its need in your life, and correct you to revolutionize and transform your life.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will apply these Biblical truths in your life, and that you will find relief through the blood of Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit come to you in grace and bring a spiritual transformation in your life today. I pray that it will lead to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your life.
