God had a great kingdom going and promises to restore that kingdom. Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom and so did John and His disciples. His followers were all from Israel. Why not just continue the kingdom through them? Why a separate unit called the church? I've addressed that issue in a little book called "Why the Church?" now available at Amazon.
