Mike wrote: Acts 16:30-34 "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved. You'd think a college-educated man would be able to read this, understand and flawlessly regurgitate to his millions of followers. Instead he throws in this "future faith saves" monkey wrench. Why would he count today's faith as a little stale when compared to tomorrow's faith? Maybe it's related to what Swindoll discussed today. A few weeks ago there were 16 families divorcing in his church for no particular reason. That number has now swollen to 19 couples with more to come. Perhaps Swindoll is observing a new phenomenon into which most of us have no insight. With these 38 Christians divorcing for no good reason, what faith do they really possess today? None. It's rampant antinomianism exposed. In light of this, perhaps a "future faith saves" theory suddenly makes sense to these pastors. "Past faith saves" vs. "Future faith saves"? With a deceitful heart, how can you even trust today's faith? Final faith is trustworthy. Today's? Not so much. With this faith confusion, I'll have to safely return to Piper's position. |

Come to find out, Piper, one of the greatest Reformed Baptist leaders of all time, with a global flock numbering in the 10s of millions, is somehow teaching a damning false gospel. With all of his education and 42 of years studying the Bible full-time, how could it be so unclear to him that he's inadvertently teaching a damning false gospel? This must be almost impossible to discover except by the most college-educated persons who have memorized the OT and NTs and have 16-18 hours each day for 3-4 decades to study and find the true Gospel. Gracious, who has more time and smarts than Piper's had to get it right? This has been a disappointing turn of events. But thanks to our testallthings friend who immediately got us off Piper's dead-end trail. Perhaps someone around here can help us locate the true Gospel path and finally get us all at SA saved. |

If you're totally saved, it doesn't matter what job you're doing. Pole dancer, 4th trimester abortionist, living-patient heart-harvester, flaming gay masseuse, drug-pusher, divorce lawyer, gang-banger or the doctor who kills granny for cash alike: they're eternally saved regardless of their profession. Salvation can't be by works (or quitting one's profession) lest anyone boast. Otherwise Luther's 16th Century "faith alone" theological novum postulate? Fail.Does Salvation really require you to not only have faith alone, but also quit your career, become penniless, lose your house and not even be able to feed your wife and children? If this is faith alone, it sure doesn't seem like it. To even suggest that some professions are 'off-limits' for a Christian would simultaneously be rank legalism and the equivalent of dancing on 10,000 graves of martyrs who died for Sola Fide. |
