This comment is only on the latter part of the previous comment. The DUP has never been committed to God's Truth. They abandoned it long before they decided to deal with SF. They were better than most of the alternatives. They had a lot of Christians as members, party officers and elected representatives. The Bible (AV) was supposed to be read at every meeting, but that was as far as it went.
They never tried to articulate christian politics. DUP fiscal policy was always socialist & redistribution-oriented, not Christian.
Truth was always compromised. One area where they could have made a long term difference was their policy on public enforcement of the Christian Sabbath. Instead, Mr Paisley promoted "local option". If local councillors wanted to promote Sabbath observance by closing public facilities on the Lord's Day (Ballymena), they were free to do so. But it was never party policy and if local councillors didn't wish to do this (Belfast), that was also very acceptable to the party. As can be expected, the christian position on God's Law was gradually buried.
Also, DUP fiscal policy has always been socialist, not Christian. Christian principle would have been a vote loser.
