Abigail, It happens all too often that people regard the pastor's words as God's unadulterated opinions for whatever reason: laziness, passivity, etc. All should be examined in light of an open Bible. If something isn't clearly stated, it should be rejected. That might get you labeled a troublemaker, but so it must be with those who are diligent in their studies of the Holy Bible. I agree, too many people are caught up in temporal affairs: wealth, power, etc. and this manifests itself all too often in churches I don't know if this helps you or answers your question, but that's my opinion and way to handle commentaries and opinions from a pastor or lay person. |

Sounds like those vessels Jesus talked about: looking good and clean on the outside(removing the smoke), but full of dead men's bones on the inside(promoting sinful lifestyles of sexual immorality on their premises). They'd do well to purge their inside and then take care of the smoke. Something sounds off balance in Disney's thinking. Good one, DB |

Seaton, Flying Christians aren't peculiar to Arminians and PreMills. It's what the Bible says: We shall be caught up and meet the Lord in the air. Nothing about being transported up a mountain to meet the Lord on its peak. Sounds like flying most likely, but are Calvinists afraid of flying? . Yet at the same time I'm not a PreMill'er either, nor am I a disciple of Arminius. As for Harry Potter, he needs more time on the Potter's wheel until he's purged of witchcraft. |

John Yurich, Do you confess Jesus is Lord? Do you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." I'm confused with your theology, because you say a true church is one which confesses the trinity and Christ's deity, but for an individual to be a true Christian, you require many works: prayer, avoiding "unscriptural" parts of a worship service, etc., in addition to confessing the Trinity and Christ's deity. Salvation is not of works, but of faith. If prayer alone saved, why did Jesus die for us? Or why does he say "Not everyone who says Lord, Lord shall enter heaven." If prayer to Jesus was a 100% guarantee of salvation, why did he warn not all who say Lord will enter heaven? Your definitions of a Christian and a church contradict one another. Which will it be: the Trinity and Christ's deity or is there more to it to make a true Christian and thus a true church? Trust the Lord Jesus, not your own works, and find a church which teaches this also. I think you'll be much happier and at peace and know there are many more Christians out there than just those who pray a prayer to receive Jesus. Prayer is great and acceptable, but that's not what makes us heaven acceptable. |
