Not necessarily, Lance. Is it better to remain with a mistress, not only disobeying the RCC's unbiblical celibacy requirement, but also the Bible's words on sexual morality? You sound like you elevate the traditions over the Bible. Forbidding to marry is a doctrine of demons. If a priest leaves in order to marry, he can still minister and in better conscience. At least he won't need to obey a doctrine of demons to remain in good standing. There's nothing wrong with voluntary celibacy...I know of a Protestant minister who has devoted his life totally to God to the extent of remaining single. That's all great. But to force this on ministers is false.

The Last Days surely are closing in when such agendas are forced onto society, especially when so many disagree. Good point there Jim!

Molly needs to realize they are cartoons based on Bible lessons. Harry Potter isn't and needs more time on the Potter's wheel until he's purged of his witchcraft. Witches are acceptable, but cartoon vegetables used to convey scriptural truths are not?

Sounds like the RCC should allow its popes and priests to marry.

If they don't like the rules, faith, culture, or lifestyles here, they should move elsewhere. It's quite simple.

Abigail,
It happens all too often that people regard the pastor's words as God's unadulterated opinions for whatever reason: laziness, passivity, etc. All should be examined in light of an open Bible. If something isn't clearly stated, it should be rejected. That might get you labeled a troublemaker, but so it must be with those who are diligent in their studies of the Holy Bible. I agree, too many people are caught up in temporal affairs: wealth, power, etc. and this manifests itself all too often in churches I don't know if this helps you or answers your question, but that's my opinion and way to handle commentaries and opinions from a pastor or lay person.

Yes, it's quite true that many people prefer their commentary over the Scriptures. Instead of Scripture Alone, they prefer Scripture-in-light-of-commentary. If they'd elevate Scripture to its rightful place they'd be much more at peace and end a lot of unnecessary division between them and fellow Christians. People like Calvin, Spurgeon and Luther weren't perfect and I don't agree with them all 100%, but I do agree with them in their cause for a more rightful place of Christ and the Scriptures in the Church and freedom from papal control.

Well, the Vatican gets something right on this one. No complaints to help insure better breathing for us all. Dendrite, on the other side of the coin, John the Revelator testifies of God: Thou shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. Where's the verse that says we just trust God to take care of it. Or is that the verse I posted? Maybe it is.

Sounds like those vessels Jesus talked about: looking good and clean on the outside(removing the smoke), but full of dead men's bones on the inside(promoting sinful lifestyles of sexual immorality on their premises). They'd do well to purge their inside and then take care of the smoke. Something sounds off balance in Disney's thinking. Good one, DB

Pope: End war

Well, he's got a point. The Pope as well as all who profess to be Christians should strive for ways to make peace. As the Lord says "Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God," and "Persue peace with all men..." Sounds pretty definite. Not an option. Good place to start is with the Gospel. Peace has to start in the heart before it's realized on earth: "The peace of God which passeth understanding shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus..."

No surprise here. I found the rural environment much more accomodating for my studies and feel it helped me learn more efficiently. I think it was due to a less stressful and less congested environment.

Seaton,
Flying Christians aren't peculiar to Arminians and PreMills. It's what the Bible says: We shall be caught up and meet the Lord in the air. Nothing about being transported up a mountain to meet the Lord on its peak. Sounds like flying most likely, but are Calvinists afraid of flying? . Yet at the same time I'm not a PreMill'er either, nor am I a disciple of Arminius. As for Harry Potter, he needs more time on the Potter's wheel until he's purged of witchcraft.

Jim,
I would say though that a modern industrial nation claiming to be Christian should stop for prayer each day or at least allow its employees to do so who want to. That's probably why this country is in such a delemma...too caught up in industrialization and temporal concerns(wealth, power, accumulation of that which we can easily live without), putting time for worship on a back burner as it evaporates away..and soon those days will come as prophecied in the Bible: You will seek but cannot find. Better to take heed to "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near." Prayer time would not be a curse on the U.S.. ;quite the opposite. This is abundantly clear in the Scriptures.

No unity dialogue from this Protestant. The pope has again written an anathema to himself with his boastful opinions about other churches outside of Rome's control(this has been going on since about A.D. 1054 and it's why most of the various Eastern Churches opted out of communion with the papacy). There should be no visible unity of Protestant churches and the Roman Catholic Church until the Roman Church agrees to the following:
1. Christ alone is head of His Church and every local congregational manifestation of His Church on earth.
2. That Faith Alone is sufficient to bring forth good works and save a soul from hell.
3. That Grace Alone through faith apart from works is what saves us. "By grace you have been saved...not of works."
4. That Scripture Alone is sufficient for the life of every individual Christian and local congregation.
5. That all aspects of salvation(deliverance from sin, justification, regeneration, transformation of a sinner) are to God's Glory Alone.

I agree with you, Seaton.

Seems there were a lot of foreign things creeping into the Church long before 1517, Lance.

Of course, there may be a "reversal" of the Reformation. The Bible warned in the last days there would be increased apostacy and preference given to man's tickling words instead of God's word. Just because there appears to be a "reversal" of the Reformation doesn't mean the RCC is the true church and others are defective.

John Yurich,
Do you confess Jesus is Lord? Do you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ?
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." I'm confused with your theology, because you say a true church is one which confesses the trinity and Christ's deity, but for an individual to be a true Christian, you require many works: prayer, avoiding "unscriptural" parts of a worship service, etc., in addition to confessing the Trinity and Christ's deity. Salvation is not of works, but of faith. If prayer alone saved, why did Jesus die for us? Or why does he say "Not everyone who says Lord, Lord shall enter heaven." If prayer to Jesus was a 100% guarantee of salvation, why did he warn not all who say Lord will enter heaven? Your definitions of a Christian and a church contradict one another. Which will it be: the Trinity and Christ's deity or is there more to it to make a true Christian and thus a true church? Trust the Lord Jesus, not your own works, and find a church which teaches this also. I think you'll be much happier and at peace and know there are many more Christians out there than just those who pray a prayer to receive Jesus. Prayer is great and acceptable, but that's not what makes us heaven acceptable.

Lance,
You mentioned "the realities of hell." So you take it literally? You say there is no description, but Jesus gave a parable of a man in fire who wanted to get even a drop of water on his tongue, but this was not possible.

What about heaven, Lance? Is is figurative and only a metaphor like hell is? If those are only metaphors or figurative, why not the Lord's Supper also? If the Lord's Supper is real, why would hell(and therefore, logically heaven also) be figurative?

To follow through logically with this minister's heretical view, heaven is also the here and now times of bliss we may have. Again, it needs to be asked: If hell is figurative and here and now, why did Christ come from the bliss of heaven to suffer torture, rejection, and death for us?

Amazing this happened, but I shouldn't be too surprised. The Bible warns in the last dates there would be much apostacy and doubt about the testimony of the Holy Bible. If there is no eternal hell, why did Jesus suffer for us? If hell is only here, we can easily atone for ourselves and others with our own suffering. Yet, this minister is still in a time when repentance is commanded and he can turn from the errors of his way and get himself and others back on the straight and narrow way to eternal life.
