The really bad news is that the story is being reported as false in Orange County this week...allegedly it was just the announcement of the daughters ordination which was "just a formality".
I fully agree with Rick on the big picture and for what it's worth I am a strong pro-life supporter...one would think it sort of goes without saying for those who frequent this site.
Jim, as for our side banter, I agree with the sola's however I haven't read your IHCC statement of faith. BTW, I really didn't think you'd take issue with Griffith Thomas comment...I have several of his commentaries which I know are clearly subordinate to Scripture... but have been helpful to me.
This alleged Pharisee..."at least I'm not unregernerate this time" will go back into retirement from SA postings. Godspeed Folks.
the AOC or Anglican Orthodox Chruch is a small but fervent group of faithful Anglican witnesses in N America separated from the TEC, COE and others.
anglo-saxon: may the congregations connected to the website continue to maintain their biblical stances espoused on the website. BTW, Jim might prefer G H Griffith Thomas given his support of Moody and Dallas Th Seminary.
I agree with the other posters comments about the obvious immodesty. The contestants were not even wearing traditional full bathing suits but skimpy bikinis as shown on news networks. her school congratulates her on it's web site but uses a photo in a gown. www.sdcc.edu
My hunch is that she attends a large non-denominational church that has no problems with the competition...but maybe i'm jaded given non-denoms seem to be so prominent and tolerant in Southern Cal.
While i agree with those who see sexual sin as very grevious before a Holy God, i think we need to be careful about calling the girl's mother essentially an non-believer based on one comment that may have been made under duress. Do we see that in Scripture?
Given all the parsing of words Palin endured, could it not be that she was frustrated that this was being exposed as the "world" was gleefully witnessing and thinking "hypocrites." Christians typically administer discipline and hopefully restration in house- as in the church as opposed to on Fox media or a website such as this.
"Graham's Grandson was ordained a Presbyterian minister? That is suprising since Graham's Grandson must have been raised Baptist."-John Y.
Billy Graham is known for his long affiliation with the SBC but growing up his family was at one time a Bible Presbyterian Church in Charlotte and his wife attended a Presbyterian Church later in life in Montreat if i have the facts correct.
The Grandson attended the Coral Ridge church and school growing up.
Light was created on the first day of the week; Christ's resurrecton was on Sunday; Jesus met with the disciples on the first day John 20:19; Pentecost was on Sunday AD 30; believers broke bread on the first day Acts 20:7; Collections were taken on the first day of the week 1 Cor. 16:1-2; the Lord's day in Rev. 1:10 most likely refers to the first day as it does as confirmed in early Christian literature.
It's a losing battle in the Episcopal Church USA. Let's pray for the believers that seperate from the apostacy to join other biblical denominations or envangelical Anglicans outside of the communion.
Some non-denominational churches are now arguing for a Moses model of leadership (theocratic) where the sheriff picks his possy so t speak. Surprisingly, these are often dispensational churches... and not so surprisingly there are increases reports of pastoral abuse due to lack of biblical oversight. I believe it's the Calvary Chapel movement that teaches that the people murmered against Moses in the Exodus thus giving example that a congregational governament is not pragmatic.
In regard to confirmation question, those in the continental reformered tradition such as the RCUS give this reason:
The RCUS practices covenant “confirmation” as commended by John Calvin (Institutes 4:19:4, 12, 13). This is done in carrying out the biblical responsibility of covenant family and church to bring up children as Christians by “feeding them with the discipline and admonition of God” (literal translation of Eph. 6:4).
It would seem that there is a difference between viewing Christmas as a holy day of obligation vs days of optional observance...or am i sounding too Anglican?
Jim: I think the point Berg is trying to make is that Obama was not born in the US and was not a native citizen. I undertand McCain was also cleed on this having been born in the Panama Canal Zone and he submitted his birth certificate and declared qualified to run for Pres.
