John, Admittedly Gingrich is probably just another politician and a hypocrite if he criticized Clinton for immorality . But in regard to prosecuting Clinton, the article makes a valid point that Clinton wasn't being impeached for the immoral and adulterous practices that we all condemn, but the fact the he perjered himself before a judge. This by one with a law degree, I believe he held the office of Arkansas attorney general, and then as sitting president. Criticize Newt for his audulterous sins, but he still had the obligation to take action against clinton's perjury.
Not that I'm all that enthralled with the Bush administration, but it's funny how some here seem to have a penchant toward equating any negative news to the Bush et tal. One could assume given Haggard's NAE position, that he was included on calls as representing part of a large conservative contingency.
Tim, do you actually think they needed Haggard's advice on foriegn policy? Secondly, isn't the Scooty Libby indictment enough to satiate you're need to bash the administration today?
Most evangelicals today begin their evangelism with John 3.16 instead of Genesis 1.1 or John 1.1. This tends to frame the gospel with a man centered emphasis or worse yet, it can validate someone whose current standing is under God's wrath.
Secondly, as John Gerstner used to pose to those we emphasize faith first, "why is it that you have to take part of the credit in salvation when it is a gift of God?"
Yeah, your probably right "repent or perish" except that I didn't say that I drink which I do not personally, however I don't interpret Scripture based on personal belief.
But then I again why should I be surprised that you don't worry about actually reading carefully.
I recently heard a seasoned reformed pastor preach that it has been the exception to the rule that Christian men under his pastoral care have abdicated their position of spiritual leadership as it is more often the fallout of feminism that is causing the misdirection in issues such as this...not to mention other influences of the worldliness.
Did Jesus sin? I'm not an alcohol advocate personally but I don't believe it was grape juice that was consumed in the NT... though perhaps watered down wine.
Bernard, As a former Philly resident-Overbrook Park, I must say I'd feel much safer living there amongst the Jewish population than in just about any predominantly muslim country...wouldn't you? And for the record, I'm not a Christian Zionist, but just am able to put aside my biases and recognize the order of magnitude between the proclivity for hate and violence between the two religions is not even close.
Pastors are to be blamelsss-1 Tim. 3:2 and Tit. 1:6. His public and private life must be consistent before God and others...not perfect or faultless, but men against whom no wickedness can be proven. Pastors are to be blameless in order that they can reprove others without being reproved themselves.
All due grace and prayer should be extended in the discipline/restoration process, but given adulterous homosexual sin and alleged drug usage, it should be some time before anyone even considers him for church leadership.
Perhaps they think "yom" the Hebrew word for day is pronounced- yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom?
Thank you for settling the discussion with your dogmatic... albeit broad biblical application krestal. If my televison worked I'd be convicted to get rid of it. But I don't remember saying I loved anything of the world??
As far as worshipping football, while there may be a grain of truth, some of us just enjoy watching competitive athletic endeavors and not simply for the violence...the MVP's are often the more finese positions-QB or wide receivers. But if you noticed the way that this generation acts during the rock and roll half time show, now that comes close to worship.
I've noted the usual criticism's and conceded several points to those dogmatically convinced Bush is the biggest buffoon to ever reside on Pennsylvania Avenue. However, given the bar is set low, do you honestly believe John Kerry or Al Gore would have done much better jobs...and it's a given the media would go easier on either of these two "social calvinists".
I worked at a JCC during college and also attended a Yom Kippur service and didn't recall the words in the Kol Nidre that Dunny boy asserted so I checked wikipedia. Wikipedia stated that anti-semites often take the prayer out of context to back their claim the jews can't be trusted.
