CALL TO WORSHIP
(Tune – Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus – p. 378)

I see the blessed Savior uplifted on the tree.
The law holds Him its captive, that sinners might go free.
His blood poured out in mercy; it does for sin atone.
I hear Him cry, “It’s finished!” The work is fully done!

I see the mighty victor arising from the grave;
Death, hell, and Satan vanquished; this mighty God can save.
Christ took His place in heaven upon the throne above.
To Him all pow’r is given to save the souls He loves.

I trust You, Jesus, Savior; I bow before Your throne.
By sov’reign mercy saved me, and took me for Your own!
Your blood, my only cleansing; Your righteousness, my robe.
You are my only Refuge; I have no other hope.

NO MID-WEEK BIBLE STUDY THIS WEDNESDAY

Debbie and I will be leaving after service this morning for a few days of vacation. Please pray for us as we travel. The Lord willing, we will be back for the service next Sunday. –The Pastor

Mark it down – Where the true Gospel is not preached, where Christ is not lifted up in the glory of His Person as God manifests in the flesh, and in the power of His finished redemptive work to save and secure all for whom He lived, died, and arose, the saving presence of God is absent. If this is the case where any congregation meets, then be assured, there is no true acceptable worship, and there is no true church of the living God present. –Copied

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH means “The LORD is there” (Ezekiel 48:35). Such is the name of the church in consequence of the presence of her glorious Husband. The prophet is speaking by the Spirit of prophecy and looking into the days of the Gospel; so that here is a mark to know the church by now, and which will be the character of Christ’s church forever. Without the Lord’s presence there is no church; unless He be in the midst of us, we will go lean all our days. Lord, write JEHOVAH SHAMMAH in our churches, in our hearts, in our houses, and in our families! —Robert Hawker

Although I am a sinner, yet, I despair not; for Christ, Who is my Redeemer and my Righteousness, liveth. In Him I have no sin, no fear, no sting of conscience, and no fear of judgment. In Christ there is no condemnation. I am indeed a sinner AS TOUCHING THIS PRESENT LIFE, but I have the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IMPUTED which is above this life, Who is Christ my Lord. In Him, I rejoice. –Copied

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord" (Psalm 122:1).

We should come to worship God with as much eagerness and interest as if we were attending the reading of the last will and testament of a wealthy relative. What is the Gospel but the declaration of the fullness of the blessings of grace and glory which have been obtained and secured for God's people based solely upon the death of Christ our Testator.

A DEBT ONLY CHRIST COULD PAY

One of the New Testament words that characterizes our sin is the word “behoveth” (Heb. 2:17) which means to owe a debt. Sin runs up a debt that we cannot pay. This sin-debt is too much for any fallen sinner to pay, so that we are naturally spiritually bankrupt. The truth is that we are unable to pay anything even to contribute to the debt of sin. But our inability to pay this debt does not take it away. God’s mercy and grace cannot simply ignore or deny the debt. God is a righteous God and will by no means clear the guilty. So, as stated, we by nature are spiritually bankrupt and have no power or means to pay this debt ourselves. The only way this debt can be paid is for someone who meets the qualification to pay it for us. What are these qualifications? (1) This person must be accepted by the one to whom we owe the debt. (2) This person must be willing to pay our debt. (3) This person must be able to pay our debt. According to God’s Word there is only one person who meets all these qualifications. It is God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Before the foundations of the world were laid, God the Father chose a people to save and appointed His Son to be Surety for their sin-debt. God the Son willingly accepted all the responsibility for that debt as the Surety of His people – “Wherefore in all things it behoved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people” (Heb. 2:17). In order to be able to pay that debt Christ “was made like unto His brethren” (Heb. 2:17) and “was made of the seed of David according to the flesh” (Rom. 1:3), yet without sin. All of the debt of their sins were imputed to Him, and as Godman He substituted Himself in their place to suffer, bleed, and die as the complete payment of their debt. He was raised from the dead showing that He fully satisfied God’s justice and brought in everlasting righteousness which God has imputed to them for their whole salvation and final glory. –Pastor Bill Parker

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:2).To be “poor in spirit” is to be truly humbled before God, knowing that I have nothing to pay and nothing to recommend me unto God. If I have been made “poor in spirit” by the Holy Spirit, I will know that I have no hope of salvation, forgiveness, or righteousness but by the grace of God in and by the Lord Jesus Christ. – Pastor Bill Parker
