Trump, Franklin Graham, 8 other evangelicals react to Christianity Today's call to remove president
President Donald Trump and Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, have slammed evangelical magazine Christianity Today after Mark Galli, the publication’s editor-in-chief, called for the president’s removal from office.

“A far left magazine, or very ‘progressive,’ as some would call it, which has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years, Christianity Today, knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call and would rather have a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets Friday.

“No President has done more for the evangelical community, and it’s not even close. You’ll not get anything from those Dems on stage. I won’t be reading [CT] again!” he ended. ...

Mike you should find this Christianity Today article interesting.

Faith in the parties

Despite all they have in common, evangelicals overall and those in historically black churches have leaned toward opposite sides of the political spectrum. A majority of evangelicals view the Republican Party (59%) and President Trump (58%) as friendly to religion, but few black Protestants agree, Pew reported. About 1 in 5 (21%) consider the Republican Party friendly to religion, and 1 in 6 (16%) say that the president is....

....

Many black Protestants fail to see the spiritual fruit of the Christian convictions employed by Republicans and actually want to see more faith engagement on the political right. In the Pew survey, 37 percent of black Protestants, a plurality, said religious conservatives have “too little” control of the Republican Party—more than the 28 percent of evangelicals and 18 percent of mainline Protestants who said the same....

I don't have trouble with the above, I just generally assume the opposite is true whatever Mr. Trump says. When he criticizes someone else, I know he just wants to be Christian and really means he is describing himself.👍

The Dominion Christians will side with anyone as long as they can achieve their goals. They do not care if it is some 3x married adulterer with a shady past.
The sheep have hired a bear to protect them from the wolf without knowing that the bear will eat them.
Trump more or less passed some laws at the expense of Christians. I cannot witness to people without them thinking that I worship trump. They refuse to listen to bible verses I have to say because of that man.
Trump is a stumbling block and he has wrecked churches and has further removed the youth from God. All so Christians could feel in control. And the economy is about to burst.
The irony is that what the Christians feared would happen to America Trump is doing. They are causing their defeat.
So Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice for POTUS? Or are you one of those who voted NOTA just so you would be free to complain and point fingers? If so you've given up your right to complain.

The Dec. 19 editorial sparked a Christmas holiday debate over religion in U.S. politics, and posed new questions about the close alignment between white evangelical voters and Trump, who has given their beliefs strong political support.
However, the coziness with the Republican president, who was impeached this month by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives, is exacerbating a long-term crisis facing white evangelicalism, some Christians say - it is being abandoned by younger generations....

Seems to me it will make people turn away from Christianity (and pro-life morals) if most Christians blindly support immoral people.

Dyle, do you have evidence to support the claim that Trump "is a president who is an ungodly fornicator"? Is your use of the present tense indicative of present reality?
Frank, is Trump an immoral buffoon today? I seem him as crude, rude and in your face, while doing some national good, and I have to say I prefer that to the back-stabbing country-transforming "presidential" smiles of a previous president.
James, well said.
Joel, as you said many nominals confuse the kingdom of God with politics. By their expectations, though, many others confuse the presidency with the Church. Is there a difference?
IMO, Trump has been an immoral buffoon since his age of accountability. That means, in Christ or not in Christ. I don't have a clue what your point is. I voted for him and will do so again. Does that satisfy your cultural thoughts?

Very good comment! I have also pondered the same thing. IMO, culture has infiltrated the true church of our Lord. In this sense, the church normally gives the rich and famous a pass. Trump is an immoral buffoon, but according to polls the evangelicals (whatever they are) support him in a Christian sense. He is simply a political christian and every once in a while will say something that is moral. Then the rich and famous kicks in.

James 2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

The solution will never be any elected official for ungodliness. But will always be The Faith that comes by hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17.

While as an executive, he is doing a good job repairing damage that had occurred to our country which I support. As an individual, his behavior is rotten which I do not support.

We elect our president to be the executive of our country and defend the Constitution.
That's it.

The lamp to our feet is the Word of God. If the actions of our president or anyone else for that matter, becomes the reason why one would "turn" away from Christ then that person has not been called by the Son to begin with nor has tasted and seen that the Lord is indeed Good!

Dyle, that's a good point. While there are some who support the President no matter what and have from the beginning, there are others of us who do so simply because he is the best choice given the options. There is another poster here who is very prolific in his support for the alternative choice(s). He is wrong to support those who are worse. We all pray for a regenerated President Trump, and are grateful to the Lord for His provision of what good has been brought through this man's Administration.

Ultimately, as Joel so eloquently wrote, the answer is not a political one. It is a personal submission we all must have to the True and Triune God -- coming to the Father by the blood of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit. Only then will people truly support righteousness both in their lives and in society as a whole.

Jim, the real solution to all this “unpleasant” or “unplanned” pregnancies is firstly to let Jesus transform your life through a new, spiritual heart implant. It’s called “regeneration” or “the new birth.” Secondly, stop fornicating, which you will actually be already excited to do because you love God and His new plan for your life now! Thirdly, get married to a Godly man and you won’t feel guilt or shame about being pregnant! Wow, imagine that! And you will accept every live baby God gives you as a sweet blessing from above! “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward!” Psalms 127:3 That’s sounds pretty straight forward to me, Jim!
