40% of Americans Can't Name Any First Amendement Rights
A recent poll conducted by the University of Pennsylvania finds that residents of the United States are poorly informed about basic constitutional provisions.
According to Pennâ€™s Annenberg Public Policy Center released Tuesday, 37 percent could not name any of the five rights protected by First Amendment, and just about half (48 percent) could name freedom of speech.

Oh really? You don't know much about how this nation was founded do you? The Founding Fathers used the scripture to come up with the constitutional rights. The Bible was the founding document of this nation.

Being a Christian doesn't make one a doormat for people to run over. Paul stopped a scourging by claiming his rights as a Roman citizen. The Lord Jesus condemned those who smote him contrary to the law. The Jews in Ezra's time gave as evidence for their work being legitimate the decree of the government of Persia via Cyrus, which Darius acknowledged. The Jews in Esther used a decree from the king to justify their defense from those who would destroy them and the entire event was turned around.
What we deserve is what Dave pointed out, but God in His grace has given us civil freedoms to enjoy that some believers will never have in their countries. Those freedoms, in the case of the United States, were acknowledge not to be a gift from the government but an endowment by God.
Seeing that most historians put the writing of the last book of the Bible just shy of the end of the first century and the writing of our Constitution occurred nearly 1700 years later, one would little expect that the subject of "Constitutional rights" would be addressed in Scripture.

when we protect our "rights" we protect human dignity.... when we ignore the fact that our neighbor was created in the image of God, thereby have a right to life, then it is easy to turn a blind eye when they are taken away captive.
False dichotomy. Christians are live in the world, but not as the world. Which includes fighting for fleeting "rights". It's biblical to follow the law of man lest it contradicts God direct command. Sitting on ones hand is the reason why you have lost your precious rights. Not because a lack of enforcement, but because the church is weak, fat, and worldly. It's a collective act of Esau, giving up life for Christ for the soup of the world. Look in the mirror, then the Word, not the Constitution for your answer.
Most people who lose their freedom lose it because they thought it was someone else's job to watch out for them. We do not have to read of constitutional rights in Scripture to know that we are to uphold the laws of the land. Ignoring them is not upholding them. We might ponder whether sitting on ones hands while a nation tries to commit suicide is any different than hiding the talent in the earth.
Providence has allowed this to happen for the weeding out of goats from the fold. Christians need not fluster about this or that amendment and who does it doesn't know it, or what wicked judge or politician is taking which rights away, but live as sojourners awaiting the coming of the Lord of Host or their entering of glory. Really do not read much of constitutional rights being defended in the scripture.

When, in Roe v. Wade, the Supremely Wicked Court denied the right to life, that opened the door to the eventual denial of any and all other rights. That is why California can deny the right to freedom of speech, and threaten to jail anyone who calls a man a man whether that man likes it or not. It is why Christian bakers or owners of a bed and breakfast can be successfully sued and financially ruined for refusing to endorse sodomites. Rights under the First Amendment? There are no rights under the First Amendment, but only such privileges as devil-worshipping judges will allow.

Well, there loving every minute of it. To bad we are to preoccupied with our video games to realise what is happening.
