Staying in an unhappy marriage could be the best thing you do, new study suggests

Having a child puts a strain on relationships, but staying in an unhappy marriage is the best thing you can do for its long-term success, according to a study.

Researchers found the majority of couples who are unhappy when their first child is born feel fulfilled a decade later.

Seven in ten couples stay together following the birth of their first child despite being unhappy, according to the Marriage Foundation.

...prayers for those who are in poor ones for strength and wisdom.
Too many Christians succumb to the world's perspective in regards to marriage...too easy to just leave.
The greatest blessings are found in God's will and ways.

i can speak for this, first it breaks you down, you have a nervous breakdown even, then God builds you up new according to His specifications.

it's hard being put into the crucible but if it's a path you are on, God is using that His Glory and your good.

also to edify ... Hosea married Gomer

I'm sure he knows what a good friend you are, Dave. The thing that stuck out when you told me about him is the "almost has a legitimate biblical reason" part. I'm not sure how he's done it, but I'm assuming he's still persevering and powering through. I always wondered though how much God expects one to take when he's been the victim of such abuse for so long.

I know a brother, whom I love dearly, who this will raise fresh thoughts of perseverance, quite frankly I can't blame him for wanting out and almost has a legitimate biblical reason.
But he's a better man than I, and I admire his trust in Jesus and perseverance for all the right reasons, please pray he and his wife find harmony and concordance in understanding

What does "happy," have to do with one's word and commitment? If one or both of you are Christians than one is happy in Lord, and that's the supreme thing.

Matthew 19:3 And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?” 4 He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” 7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” 8 He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.” ---ESV
