AUSTRALIA gets its first female bishop today with the appontment of Anglican archdeacon Kay Goldsworthy in Perth.
Ms Goldsworthy, who began her career in Melbourne, was one of 10 female priests ordained by the former archbishop of Perth Peter Carnley in 1992.
She is being made a bishop by current archbishop Roger Herft this morning.
“It's maintaining the Anglican Diocese of Perth's tradition of being a leader of the role of women in the church and the community,” a spokesman for Dr Herft said....
