Neil wrote: The Emperor has no clothes. Contrary even to what many Christians think, science can't rationally explain ANYTHING. Evidently Mr. Carroll has not studied philosophy, despite some candid admissions by some famous unbelievers. "But the real nature of things, that we shall never know, never." — Einstein "The great scandals in the philosophy of science ever since the time of Hume have been causality and induction...We must hope that an answer will be found, but I am quite unable to believe that it has been found." — Bertrand Russell (writer of "Why I am not a Christian") The best that science can EVER do is supply hypothetical models of how nature works. These can never be proven categorically true, nor be immune to refutation. Well said Neil, inductive logic is the main method of scientific empiricism and can never give any absolute truths. Never mind tell us if there is a God what a ridiculous statement for anyone to make, but repeat it enough times and you might convince the lazy minded. |
