How did what Shawn say below indicate that he thought that what happened was acceptable? He simply stated that according to a atheistic worldview it was right. If there's no God, who cares what anyone does or doesn't do? Shawn's point was that the people were simply being epistemologically self-conscious, or consistent with their worldview. God's the one who makes things right or wrong, and if there's no God, then man decides what's right or wrong. Everyone does what's right in his own eyes. He wasn't saying it was right in and of itself.
How anyone can see or think that this is a war to preserve our freedoms as Americans is beyond me. Wars to protect our freedoms means guarding our borders - not bombing the Middle East into the stone age.
