Refton wrote: God established and provided the Sabbath from the days of creation and has commanded it to be kept and that is ordained since the first created week. Nothing has changed except the day (called Sunday now) and even that is still the seventh. "Blessed" Day:- Gen2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Refton, where has the day been changed ? And how can you call Sunday the seventh day ? Sabbath is the seventh day and the first day of the week follows which we call Sunday. |

Unprofitable Servant wrote: Show me where in Scripture that the Sabbath was kept before the exodus from Egypt other than God choosing to rest from His creating. Where is Job, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, et al said to keep the Sabbath? Why do you want me to show you that the sabbath was kept by others apart from the Lord before the Exodus. Is the fact that He blessed, sanctified and kept it himself not good enough for you. We do know the Ancients had weeks, months and years agreed there is no account of them keeping a sabbath but its quite a jump to say definitively that they didn't keep it or know about it. What are your thoughts on Rev 14:12 ? What commandments do you think that John is talking about. And also Isaiah 66:23 Is this the same sabbath from Genesis 1 to be honoured |

Jim Lincoln wrote: ".... The sabbath was a day of legal obligation, the first day one of voluntary worship and service. The sabbath is mentioned in the Acts only in connection with the Jews, and in the rest of the N.T. but twice. col 2:16; Hebrews 4:4. In these passages the seventh day sabbath is explained to be to the Christian not a day to be observed, but a type of the present rest C.I. Scofield note for Matt 12:1. Jim are you saying we shouldn't keep the sabbath day ? The sabbath is mentioned all through the bible and all scripture is God breathed for training in righteousness. Its good to keep God's commandments |
