whats in a name wrote: What John's error is to wage a private war against all things Calvinist which he has been doing for years. The method he uses is the insulting term quote "frenchy" More recently he has used the insulting term of quote "ingleesi" of CHS. Why he does this and purports to imply he is a Calvinist, is something only he can explain. But it is not a Christian practice or witness to call people names even dead theologians. Over the years I have noticed that one person (quite obviously a Presbyterian) has been stalking brother John UK, hounding and badgering him, calling him names like "arminist" etcThis person keeps changing moniker in the hope that he will not be identified, and always attacks maintaining his anonymity. My guess is that "what's in a name" is this same individual! You need to get a life, learn some bible, and experience that grace which your mouth is too quick to speak of, but which your heart knows so little of! Listen to yourself! Many have detected your false humility, but instead of exercising true humility and showing contrition you start hitting out showing how proud you really are. |

John for JESUS wrote: If you really believe what you just said then you will no longer quote scripture to prove a point!... Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified..What "calling" is referred to here? 1 Thess 1.4,5 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost.. A calling that comes with power and the Holy Ghost. 1 Thess 2.13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. A word which works effectually in some but not others?! 2 Tim 1.9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began A holy calling? According to his own purpose and grace? Given in Christ before the world began? Where is any of this in your theology? |

heaping distress upon distres wrote: ....Now the tiny contingent of religious folk likely wish they could voyage home to the relatively light shackels of Great Britain. What a joke! The Homosexuals have a strangle hold in GB because cleverly they have occupied positions of power in politics and the media. The degree of social engineering we have experienced under the Blair regime and continue to experience under the Cameron regime is unprecedented. This is certainly not the land of religious liberty as Christians are increasingly marginalised and secularism and atheism root themselves into the hearts of the masses. Who in their right mind would want to come here? |

Mike wrote: ... Methinks Paul would have used a different word than "all" if he wanted it so 1 Corinthians 612 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Does the 'all" here include sin? Or, do we have to assume that the apostle is speaking of things indifferent? Acts 1 1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach Does Luke in his gospel literally tell us everything that we need to know about the Lord? Why the other gospels then, and why do we find portions in the others that Luke does not have? Acts 2 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved Does all the people include the priests, the captain of the temple, the Saducees, the rulers, elders and scribes? Read the early portion of chapter 4 to see their reaction. We could add many more references to demonstrate that all does not necessarily mean everything or everyone! |

thanks wrote: Look forward to more 'helps' as the Lord wills, God bless you and thank you for your excellent contributions Thank you "Thanks".Brother Alexander also has audios on SA, if you are interested to hear his voice. Just search for his name under speaker names. I only got to know of him through Stuart Olyott's book on Romans, which I read many years ago, and have searched high and low for anything by him since. What I have found to date is priceless. I sincerely hope that others will begin to appreciate his ministry again. I am definitely going back to lurk mode now. I will post occasionally, but I find the engagement here too time consuming. A blessed Lord's day to you all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lisa Just saw yours before leaving. You seem incapable of engaging, and appear very arrogant with comments like "Stick to the bible- may I recommend reading it!". I have been studying (not merely reading) my bible now for well over 40 years and so snide comments like that are insulting but not engaging. If this is how you interact, then you will get a reaction which no doubt you will label cyber bullying! A little humility would go a long way. |

Lisa wrote: Stick to the bible- may I recommend reading it! Obviously you don't need teachers because you have already arrived and we can all witness the wealth of wisdom you possess. If only the Lord had known about you before he decided to bestow teachers in His church he might have changed his mind. You arrogance is quite unbelievable! If you are so knowledgeable on the Bible why is it that you seem incapable of making a case? Those who make assertions, backed only by proof-texts and don't engage any more than that show that they know nothing. So stop standing on the sideline jeering at things you personally can't agree with. No one cares for your personal opinions! Reading your posts is painful and the spirit you display is not becoming of a Christian lady. Tell me are you here to engage or to teach? |

And if the challenges are biblical and can't be refuted, you should be prepared to face up to the probability that the things that were settled in your mind may be mistaken. This is a great forum for learning, whether you participate or follow in lurk mode. Blessings to you. Observer wrote: The truth really is devastating to the schemes that men devise! Good post. Believing Jews and Gentiles are the new Holy Nation, the Israel of God. |

Jim Lincoln wrote: .Replacement Theology Matt 39 And think not to say .., We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. Rom 2 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Rom 9 6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. Gal 3 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise Gal 6 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. |

Lisa wrote: Have a look at the davidic covenant in 2 Samuel 7 Eternal You asked Lurker a question and he gave you a very clear Scripture verse that says precisely what he maintained. In response to him you cite a reference and the vaguest comment to refer to the Davidic covenant. This is extremely poor show! If you are going to make progress on this forum please heed Observer's post of earlier today. Otherwise you will forever be speaking past people. You might also like to consider our Lord's words that his kingdom is not of this world and the numerous portions of God's word which tell us that under the New Covenant the children of Abraham are those who like him believe and are saved: not the ethnic descendents, even if they could be identified and located! Lurker Dear brother, thank you for your kind words. I believe, as you clearly do, that Scripture interprets Scripture and so working in this fashion is the most obvious method. Blessings to you too. |

Mike wrote: It is asked what makes the difference between one drawn sinner and another. Why does one come and one not?....It's called willful obstinacy. I know you are interested in full orbed truth. So consider:John 12 37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: 38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. If we take the original reading of the Isaiah portion being cited in Acts 28, if it is Isaiah 44.18 given in my Bible as a cross reference, then it reads, "They have not known nor understood : for HE HATH SHUT THEIR EYES that they cannot see; and their hearts that they cannot understand." So how does this add to your understanding? |
