1. There is much falsehood that has been taught and propagated in the traditions of the church with regards to the Law of Moses.
2. Many theologians, preachers and believers have not understood what God actually meant by the Law that He gave through Moses. Many of these people have not learned things from God, but have just read a lot of books by their favorite theologians and so they think they have understanding of the gospel.
3. Because the Law came from God, many struggle with God's own teaching of what God actually meant by it and the discontinuity of it. God did not give the Law to help people to be good. The Law was given to teach about bigger spiritual realities.
4. God used the Law to teach that He is no ordinary being. That He is not a supersized grand pa who gives bear hugs to everyone.
5. Rather to INTRODUCE Himself to His sinful creation as One who is HOLY and RIGHTEOUS.
6. And being Holy and Righteous there has to be a PRESCRIBED way for sinners to approach Him otherwise they will have to die.
7. And by the Law God was teaching that He could not be approached by the Law. There is NO SINNER who can approach God by the Law. When that happens, you have MT Sinai. You have thunder, lightning, smoke, darkness, blackness, doom, Hell, condemnation. This is what the Law does to anyone who tries to approach God for ANYTHING through it.
8. Mt Sinai represents God's attitude when approached by way of the Law. So, it is a lie that Christ saves you to take you back to Mt Sinai. Mt Sinai remains Mt Sinai, the Old Covenant, The Ten Commandments that many love to post were given to KILL not to give life and Mt Zion remains Mt Zion. They are different. |
