For our first hour service, Pastor Simpson returned to our series of messages on wisdom and how to have it. Specifically, we considered wisdom in the heart and the effect it has on our lives. Of course, there are times when correction is required; when children disobey, parents flare up and correct in anger, but when God corrects, He is dealing with the heart and heart matters. He that hates correction and he that hates reproof shall die. Pastor Simpson spoke to the place of death for them that hate wisdom - hell. We must do all we can in all the power we can, as God leads us, to guard the heart. Our appearance is a reflection of what's within the heart. Compare and contrast Judas with Peter when each was corrected... One went to hang himself, the other went to repent. No one likes correction; however, when we are corrected, our reaction is a mirror of the condition of our heart! Are you able to have a merry heart in times of trouble? Verses sixteen and seventeen provide instruction to guide us to a joyful heart, even in troubles. Wealth is not the issue, Godliness with contentment is the answer. Today's sermon is perfect for those of us in search of wisdom. May the Lord grant wisdom to His people.
