Today we come to the end of the book of Genesis and the end of the lives of Jacob and his son Joseph. Today as we look closer at the deaths of Jacob and Joseph, we will see some important truths regarding the death of every Christian. 1) Perseverance: A true Christian remains faithful to the end When we finally cross that finish line, all glory will go to the Father. He chose us, called us, and kept us! 2) Joy: Death immediately takes the Christian's soul into the presence of Jesus O what a blessing to no longer fear death! Christians can say along with Paul that to die is gain, because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Death simply speeds us to meet Jesus. Death does separate our spirit from our body temporarily, but we know that when Christ returns, we will be given a glorified body to live in forever. 3) Grief: A Christian's death produces real grief 4) Hope: After death, a Christian's body awaits resurrection/glorification at Christ's return.
