Dear friend, is your life adding up? I once heard the statement, “if you were to stand on trial before a judge and prosecuting attorney, would there be enough evidence to convict you of being a Christian?” How hard would it be for people to find evidence against you? In the Old Testament days, the culture put on trial a man named Daniel. He was known not to bow down to idols and was a man who prayed three times a day. He was put on trial, convicted of following the One True God, and sentenced to a den of lions. I am thankful that we have a perfect defense attorney who will vindicate us. Just after Christ’s resurrection and ascension, two early Christians, Peter and John, were arrested and stood trial before the Sanhedrin council after the lame beggar was healed. They testified of Jesus’s death, resurrection, and power to save and to heal. When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). There was plenty of evidence and no doubt where these men stood. Matthew 7:20 says, “You shall know them by their fruits.” There are no shortcuts to heaven. A person who is saved needs to live like they are saved, so the evidence is clear and the message sent to the world is clear that God is alive and transforms lives. Let’s turn to 2 Peter 1:3-11 and see what he had to say about Christian Living. Do you want to be effective, productive, and clear sighted Christian during your time here? If so, let’s give all ears to the Apostle Peter. |
