The Bible distinguishes between two types of suffering. There is suffering that occurs as a result of our sin. If you do wrong, make bad choices, break God's laws, you can expect to suffer consequences. The Bible doesn't have a lot of sympathy for that kind of suffering. You got what was coming to you! But then there is another kind of suffering that takes place – called unjust suffering. This is suffering we experience through no fault of our own.We did what is right, but we still suffered. In fact, we may have suffered because we did what was right. The Bible speaks a lot about persecution and suffering because of our allegiance to Jesus Christ. Joseph certainly experienced unjust suffering! -sold into slavery by his brothers -Imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit -and now forgotten by the one human who could get him out. God's Word teaches us how to respond to suffering. So turn with me please to the book of 1 Peter Chapter 4. What Should I Do When I Suffer Unjustly? I will share four things.
1) Don't Be Surprised 2) Rejoice 3) Trust God 4) Do Good We have talked about what to do when faced with suffering, but how do I respond that way? How? 1) Look to Jesus 2) Look to your eternal reward/deliverance
