Today we look at what was undoubtedly the happiest moment in the lives of Abraham and Sarah, the birth of Isaac, the son of laughter. And yet as we will also see this chapter does not focus very long on the joy of Isaac's birth but quickly moves into the continued conflict that Abraham faced as God's sovereign plans continued to be fulfilled in his life. In joy and in sorrow the Lord continues to fulfill His purposes in our lives. Submit in faith and obedience to the God who brings both joy and pain. We will look at Genesis 21 in three parts: 1. God Blesses with Joy Those Who Wait on Him, v. 1-7 2. God Calls Us to Do That Which is Often Very Difficult, v. 8-14 3. God Shows Mercy Because of His Sovereign Purposes, v. 15-21
