Former FBI head James Comey's congressional testimony this week opened a window into the dysfunction, inside dealing, hidden misconduct, string pulling, and cover ups that are the norm in Washington.
There are obviously different standards entirely for the elite and privileged versus the "common people."
But the Lord used this news to call to my mind one of the glories and beauties of our Lord Jesus - that He is a righteous advocate for the helpless before our God!
Comey's testimony made it clear: the president asked him to pledge his personal loyalty to Mr. Trump. The president asked Mr. Comey to drop the investigation of General Flynn. The President asked Comey to signal to the public that Trump was not under investigation personally.
When Comey failed to carry out these requests by Trump, the President fired him as head of the FBI.
At the same time, Comey stated that Attorney General Lynch had also interfered with his investigation of Hillary Clinton, and that he couldn't brief AG Sessions on Trump's misbehavior, because of certain secret matters involving Mr. Sessions!
Comey is no altar boy either, leading the FBI in illegal spying, and monstrous schemes to run child porn websites and create terrorist plots in order to entrap defendants.
Trump's behavior may not be illegal, but it is a disgraceful use of his power to protect his friends from justice and demand loyalty to himself instead of the constitution and the law.
Praise God, our Lord Jesus advocates for poor sinners, but not that justice might be overturned.
Instead, Jesus pleads for strict justice in the freeing of sinners, because He already satisfied justice by dying to save us!
