1) The Gospel is According to the Scripture A) I Cor 15:1-4 B) It is testimony of recorded information - truth C) God has fenced the Gospel to only include His truth, not Man's or Satan's lie. D) The Gospel is perfect because it is the truth from God
2) The Gospel is a Historical Message A) It is a message past, historical event of a finished and complete work B) The Gospel is does not change or can be added to C) It cannot be substituted for action by or in Man - "seeing a sermon" rather than hearing one
3) Most Basic Definition of the word Gospel A) Gospel means - Good news (not bad) B) When associated with the word "preach" = evangelize or to announce, bring, show, declare the good news.
4) Second Layer of Definition A) Who and What specifically does this good news concern? (Rom 1:1-3 & 16) The Person and work of Christ or who He is and what He did to save His people. B) There are other closely related issues that help define the gospel - example: of God, of grace, of peace, of His Kingdom, etc.
5) The Gospel is Formulated with Doctrine and Theology A) Definition of Theology = The study of God (John 17:3) B) Definition of Doctrine = Teaching (Rom 6:17) D) What form? Audible, print or any way possible to communicate
