Paul had previously established the church in Thessalonica and taught them many things about the future. He taught them about the Day of Christ and the Day of the LORD. (I will illustrate on the white-board.) And it was necessary that he write this letter to the church since false teachers came in after him and confused the people. That fledgling, little, persecuted flock was beginning to think, "Maybe we are going through the day of the Lord's wrath, this must be it!" So Paul writes to put them back on track and defend the church from error. There are two things that have to happen before the Day of Christ, a time of God's wrath will come.
