Paul and Barnabas return from Jerusalem to join those who are teaching in Antioch. But as they ministered, the Holy Spirit set Paul and Barnabas apart to go on their first missionary journey which lasts about two years. On the island of Cyprus, they witness to the head of state, Sergius Paulus, but one of his advisors, Elymas, attempts to stop them. Paul seeing what he is doing directly, boldly and bluntly confronts him calling him the son of the devil. He also says that the Lord will strike him blind, which He does. When Paulus sees these things, he believes. Do we have the boldness to confront those who are trying to hinder the gospel? Do we see the world like Paul did as having many who are the enemies of the Lord who are trying to pervert the straight ways of God? Man hasn't changed. There are still many who would desire to prevent people from coming to saving faith.
