The reality in 2011 is that the church in America is largely apathetic and indifferent regarding intentionally and urgently reaching out beyond the walls of the church building in-order to truly make an eternal impact for Jesus the Christ in the world in which we live.
We say we have a heart to reach the lost and we claim to believe in the Great Commission, yet in many instances, our actions point to just the opposite. If we are honest, the American church in most cases is in love with itself as we pursue personal comfort above all else.
How did we lose our way? Where do we go from here? If we are ever going to right the ship, we will have to understand and embrace that we must become so in love with Jesus and His will, that nothing else matters. Nothing. Will this cost us something? Oh yes. It will cost us dearly and it will cost us more than just something...it will cost us everything. We can't continue to try to partially surrender to Christ. Partial surrender is impossible. We are either for Him or we are against Him....there's no in-between.
