This is a sermon by my father. I was gone this past week to a conference, and so he graciously filled the pulpit for me today. In this sermon, he considers our superficialy culture that values 'image' over substance in just about everything and asks the question: To what degree have we in the church been affected by this superficiality. He then looks at a number of scriptures that compare Christians to trees that are planted by streams of water, and thereby bear fruit for God. In other words, Christians are not superficial surface creatures. They are deeply rooted in the waters of the Holy Spirit.
