“ Peter Ruckman: Legalistic Name Calling ”
As Peter Ruckman demonstrated, he was known for his legalistic name calling as do all other legalists. Peter Ruckman would regularly refer to those who disagree with him as “jack(blank),” “poor, dumb, stupid red legs,” “silly (blank),” “apostolic succession of bloated egotists,” “two-bit junkies,” “two-faced, tin-horned punks,” “incredible idiots,” “egotistical jack legs,” “conservative (blank) whose brains have gone to seed,” “cheap, two-bit punks,” and “stupid, little, Bible-rejecting apostates.” This name calling is what self-righteous legalists often resort to. We remember the example of the authoritarian legalist known as Diotrephes spoken of in 3 John 1:9-11. As we know, Diotrephes was a self-righteous hypocrite just as Peter Ruckman was. If Peter Ruckman was so accustomed to calling people names like "incredible idiot," then it is only appropriate to say that Peter Ruckman was a self-righteous hypocrite. Such self-righteous hypocrisy called legalism is a reproach on The Name of The Lord.

“ A Sermon Criticizing Legalism ”
A sermon like this is most helpful in response to legalism. This sermon is especially needed in response to Doug Phillips resignation from Vision Forum on 30 October, 2013. The result is that Vision Forum was shut down.

“ Peter Ruckman: Self-Righteous Hypocrite ”
It should be noted that Peter Sturges Ruckman Sr. (19 November, 1921 – 21 April, 2016) was a self-righteous hypocrite who failed to remove the beam from his own eye in order to see the mote in the eyes of fellow people around him. It should also be noted that Matthew 7:1-5 strongly condemns any self-righteous judgment accompanied by self-righteous hypocrisy. This is not to say that Matthew 7:1-5 condemns all judgment. It specifically condemns self-righteous judgment in the form of self-righteous hypocrisy. Any authoritarian pastor like Peter Ruckman and Jack Hyles is only a self-righteous hypocrite and is being legalistic. We need hard preaching, but this sermon is a call to renounce and denounce any self-righteous hypocrisy, which is exhibited as authoritarian legalism. Peter Ruckman only demonstrated self-righteousness in his angry, abrasive, acidic, sour, and hurtful words in his writings and speeches, which also permitted him to justify even the use of the foulest of language.
