Long and messy is the battlefield over the Sovereignty of God. There have been, and will continue to be (until the Lord comes) a great debate over the doctrine of God’s Sovereignty. There have been good men on both sides of this argument who have been throwing mud at one another over this subject for centuries. I want to take a balanced approach at this subject today. Now it needs to understood, that this doctrine is contrary to our nature. It is opposed by our very own carnal mind and human reasoning. By nature, we rebel against this teaching. And any man centered theology will quickly dismiss God’s Sovereignty as heresy. Yet I will say that any “level headed Bible student” will agree, that God is indeed Sovereign. Now, we may disagree on how He chooses to exercise that Sovereignty, but brothers and sisters…but without oversimplifying it, or slinging mud at the other side…let me make this plain as I can make it. God is either Sovereign over all, or He is not Sovereign at all.
