Many are familiar with verse 14 of Isaiah 7, but not many are familiar with the context of Isaiah 7. There is political strife and nation is rising against nation. To the north you have King Pekah of Israel, and to the south you have King Ahaz of Judah. The King of Israel has made an alliance with Rezin the King of Syria because of an even greater and threatening nation, Assyria. Both Pekah and Rezin seek to strengthen their numbers by bringing in Ahaz into their alliance, but Ahaz refused to join them. Therefore, Pekah and Rezin seek to invade and take over Judah, and set a puppet King on the throne of Judah. Needless to say, Ahaz and the people of Judah were frightened of the impending invasion. Listen in as Pastor Britton takes this intriguing chapter in Isaiah and brings to light the mercy of our God as illustrated in the promise of the coming Messiah, Immanuel.
