John Calvin and the Calvinistic Reformers never taught that Infants go to Hell, Never demanded a work for salvation, and always rested upon the eternal electing purpose of God, and His divine providence and Predestination as the condition of any salvation including that of, as Calvin said "1000's of generations of elect infants." Only a pure understanding of The Historic Doctrines of Grace will provide you with the answers to the questions you are asking. Only when you see that Grace does not negate Law, Mercy never denies Justice, Salvation never compromises with sin, and Christ never surrenders His possessions to Satans hands. Only with a true historic reformed Baptist doctrine can you see that all through history there have been men and women that stood and said the answer is not in men and churches and dogmas, that answer is found in Scripture alone. Though there have been some that have erred, the denomination that has ever held out that children and adults alike are saved only by God's sovereign Electing Providential Grace. I am speaking as Spurgeon did, of those true Historic Particular Baptist. Charles Hodge, W. G. T. Shedd, and B. B. Warfield hold that though babies own original sin and could be justly condemned, but God's kind intention is as a saving God. Warfield, wrote"The destiny of infants who die is determined irrespective of their choice by an unconditional decree of God, suspended for its execution on no act of their own. And their salvation is wrought by an unconditional application of the grace of Christ to their souls through the immediate and irresistible operation of the Holy Spirit prior to and apart any action of their own proper wills.
