I Will Praise the Name of Jesus Tune to "COME THOU FOUNT" 8.7.8.7. DOUBLE Words by JIM BYRD
1. I will praise the name of Jesus, Prophet, Priest and reigning King; Join with me and bow before Him, Unto Him your homage bring. I will praise the name of Jesus, Who descended from above; Came to save His chosen people, Sent by God in cov’nant love.
2. I will praise the name of Jesus, Who upon Mount Calvary; Shed His blood to seal my pardon, Died from sin to set me free. I will praise the name of Jesus, Risen, conquering, gracious Friend; Jesus is my Mediator, All my hopes on Him depend.
3. I will praise the name of Jesus, O how good He is to me; I will gladly bow and worship, Praise His name eternally. I will praise the name of Jesus, Till I see His blessed face; Then throughout the endless ages, Praise Him for His love and grace. *****
We are commanded to praise the Lord, and yet it is impossible to give Him all the glory He so richly deserves. The adoration of the Lord will be the delightful employment of redeemed sinners throughout eternity. *****
SCRIPTURE READINGS TODAY: MORNING: DANIEL 4:28-37 EVENING: ISAIAH 61
"Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can show forth all His praise?" (Psalm 106:1-2)
***** "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." ~Isaiah 1.18 It is as if Jehovah said, "Come, now; let’s be reasonable…" Man’s "wisdom" regarding spiritual things is merely foolishness dressed in the language and trappings of wisdom. Man’s spiritual wisdom regarding spiritual things is full of the abilities of man and the limitations of God. Man’s "wisdom" denies the obvious and reasonable and lays hold of the fanciful and ridiculous. Professing himself to be wise, man becomes a fool when spiritual matters are at issue.
So God says, "Let’s be reasonable." Let’s be reasonable: your sins are like scarlet and crimson. Man’s wisdom is to diminish his sin; God’s wisdom is to accent it. If a man will simply open his eyes and be honest concerning what he sees about himself, he will confess with God that his sins are scarlet and crimson in their awfulness and stubbornness. Most men try to be good; all that try fail. Our utter failure to be righteous should convince us of our utter depravity, but God must call us to reason and point out our sin, or we will refuse to acknowledge it.
Let’s be reasonable: Your sins are beyond your abilities to remove. We usually refer to sins as black; the Lord calls them red. A black stain can be removed or so diluted as to appear gray. Men see gray and call it white. But red stains, even scarlet and crimson stains, are virtually impossible to remove or hide. The most beautiful fabric is rendered worthless by such a stain. No amount of washing or scrubbing will cleanse such a garment. It is ruined.
Let’s be reasonable: nothing short of a miracle will fix the problem. Nothing less than snowy whiteness will be accepted, and that is impossible with man. But God has a cleanser which no man can produce nor is any man capable of properly applying. It is the blood of the Lord Jesus. What a miracle – a blood-red cleanser removes scarlet stains! The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin! – Pastor Joe Terrell
***** God’s Word Shall Endure "All Thy commandments are faithful...help Thou me." (Psalm 119:86)
God’s Word is all true; the longer we test and try it, the more shall we find it to be worthy of our fullest confidence. Those who doubt its truth have never really proved its power. Those who mistrust it, in any degree, are as yet like inexperienced mariners who are constantly doubting and fearing what is going to happen; but those who have long done business on the great waters of the ocean of divine inspiration, and who have seen the wonders of the Lord there, will tell you that, though heaven and earth shall pass away, God’s Word shall endure forever. We have seen a thousand things in the course of our earthly pilgrimage, but there is one thing that we have never seen, and we never shall see, namely, God proving unfaithful to His promises and deserting His people in their time of need. – Pastor Jim Byrd
