“We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5

For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Psalm 33:4-9

CHRIST MADE SIN FOR US
(2 COR. 5:21)
Christ our Lord had no sin, knew no sin and did no sin. He was perfect before the law of God (I Peter 2:22; Heb. 4:15). Our sins were reckoned to him. He was identified and numbered with the transgressors and, though he personally had no sin, yet by imputation he was the world's greatest sinner and was dealt with as such and died under the wrath of God (Gal. 3:13; Heb. 9:28; Rom. 8:32). All of this was done that we might be made the righteousness of God in Christ and, by our identification and oneness with Christ justified. Christ, who knew no sin, was made sin for us that we, who have no righteousness, might be made righteous before God in him (Rom. 10:1-4). With his spotless garments on, we are as holy as his Son (Isa. 45:24) Someone said, "The gospel can be summed up in two words – substitution and satisfaction." Christ, as our Substitute, made full and complete satisfaction for us before God's holy law and righteous justice. In him we are wholly sanctified, completely and eternally saved. Pastor Henry Mahan

No, not a trace, not a shade, not the shadow of a shade
“He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities” (Psalm 130:8).
Iniquities of eye -- has conscience no voice there? Is no iniquity ever practised by your eye? Let conscience speak. Iniquity of ear -- is there no iniquity that enters into your heart through the ear? You cannot listen to a conversation in the street without iniquity entering into your heart through what Bunyan calls "Ear gate." Iniquity of lip -- do you always keep your tongue as with a bridle? Do your lips never drop anything unbecoming the gospel? Is there no carnal conversation, no angry word at home, no expression that you would not like the saints of God to hear? What! your lips always kept so strictly that there is never a single expression dropped from them which you would be ashamed to utter before an assembly of God's people? Iniquity of thought -- if your eyes, ears, and lips are clean, is there no iniquity of thought? What! in that workshop within, no iniquitous suggestions, no evil workings? Oh, how ignorant must we be of ourselves, if we feel that we have no iniquity of thought! Iniquity of imagination -- does not fancy sometimes bring before you scenes of sensuality in which your carnal nature is vile enough to revel? Iniquity of memory -- does not memory sometimes bring back sins you formerly committed, and your evil nature is perhaps base enough to desire they had been greater Iniquity of feeling -- no enmity against God's people ever working? no pride of heart? no covetousness? no hypocrisy? no self righteousness? no sensuality? no base thought that you cannot disclose even to your bosom friend?

But here is the blessed promise -- a promise only suited to Israel: for all but Israel lose sight of their iniquities, and justify themselves in self righteousness. None but Israel feel and confess their iniquities, and therefore to Israel is the promise of redemption limited: "He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities." What! all? Yes, Not one left? No, not a trace, not a shade, not the shadow of a shade; all buried, all gone, all swallowed up, all blotted out, all freely pardoned, all cast behind God's back. Joseph C. Philpot, 1802-1869

THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS
"Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins" (Acts 13:38).

Forgiveness and pardon from all sin will only interest you if you consider yourself to be guilty before God. Our Lord said, "they that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick" (Matt. 9:11). There is but one exclusive method by which God pardons sin, "through this man." God will pardon sin, but not apart from this man, Jesus Christ our Lord and His appointed, suitable sacrifice for sin (Heb. 2:17). All of the sin of God's elect were so charged to Christ Jesus (2 Cor.5:21) and He so completely made satisfaction for them (1 Peter 3:18), that all who receive Him by God given faith shall never perish (John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1). Here are four important Biblical facts about the pardon of sin in Christ.

1). It is full and complete pardon. His precious blood does not atone and put away some of the sins of God's people. It is complete and full for all who by grace do believe (Acts 15:11). This is the plain record of holy scripture, "If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1John 1:7; Col. 2:13; Heb.10:17).

2). It is free and sovereign pardon. It is true that it cost God our Saviour a tremendous price, He shed His blood and gave His life as a sacrifice to God's justice to put away sin (Acts 20:28). However, pardon of sin to the believer is absolutely free, "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" (Rom. 8:32; 1Cor. 2:12; Rev. 21:6; 22:17).

3). It is irreversible and eternal pardon. Those who God pardons will never stand before the throne of God charged with sin, "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us" (Rom. 8:33-34). He saves us with an everlasting salvation (Isa. 45:17). He redeemed us with an eternal redemption (Heb. 9:12). He gives unto His sheep eternal life and they shall never perish (John 10:27-30).

4). It is present and immediate pardon. Can we know that we have this perfect pardon from God, that we are accepted in the Beloved now? Here is the promise of scripture, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace " (Eph. 1:7; Rom. 5:8-11; 1 John 3:1)
