ZEBULON BAPTIST CHURCH Weekly Bulletin Sunday, November 15, 2009 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments. So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed. Psalm 119:41-46 Beginning Sunday, Dec. 06 at 7:00 AM, Todds Road Grace Church will be televising their weekly TV program on WKYT 27. SINCERE SYMPATHY Our sincere sympathy is extended to Tom Runyon and family in the recent death of his sister, Bertie Coleman. IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1Thes. 5:18) As believers we have so much to be thankful for! Who can measure the abundance of God's grace and goodness showered so freely upon us (Psa. 40:5 130;7)? Who among us can determine how many unseen dangers we have been delivered from by the hand of God's almighty power (Dan. 4:35)? Who is able to sufficiently honor and praise God for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ that freely, sovereignly and eternally justifies the ungodly from all sin (Psa.115:1; Rom. 3:24; 8:32)? And yet we do give thanks to God for all things (Rom. 11:36). Not like we should, not like we will some day, but we are humbled and thankful unto our sovereign Lord for all blessings both physical and spiritual ( Eph. 5:20; 1Cor. 1:30-31). How could we complain of anything, when we realize that we are an heir of all grace now and all glory hereafter in Christ? (Rom. 8:14-17; Heb. 9:15; 1Peter 1:3-5). Pastor Tom Harding Cure for Care 1. We have entirely too many fears for a people to whom the Lord has said, ‘Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness' (Is 41:10.) 2. We have far too many doubts and fears concerning God's mercy, love, and grace for a people to whom the Lord has said, ‘Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out...I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish' (John 6: 37; 10: 28-30.) 3. We spend entirely too much time grumbling and complaining about our trials and troubles for a people to whom the Lord has said, ‘In the world ye shall have tribulation but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world' (John 16: 33.) 4. We have entirely too much attachment to this world and to this present life for a people who are looking for a city whose Builder and Maker is God (Heb. 11:8-10). "We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" (2 Cor. 5:1). Pastor Henry T. Mahan HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE His name is called "Jesus" because "he shall save his people from their sins" (Matt. 1:21). He is the only One who has power in himself to forgive sin. He is exalted "to give repentance and remission of sins" to the Israel of God (Acts 5:31). The Lord God found a ransom for sinners in his own dear Son (Job 33:24), and purposed to save his people by the sacrificial death of his Son as their Substitute from eternity (Acts 2:23). In the fullness of time, the Son of God became a man to accomplish the salvation of chosen sinners. "Being found in fashion as a man, he became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross" (Phil. 2:8). Thus, by the sacrifice of himself according to the will of God, the Lord Jesus Christ put away all the sins of his people, obtained eternal redemption for them, and established the only grounds upon which God can be both just and the Justifier of all who believe (Rom. 3:24-26). Pastor Don Bell PUBLIC WORSHIP Public worship is the public assembly of God's saints, meeting together to worship God publicly through the preaching of the Word, public prayer, and public praise. Public worship is just as important as private worship. It is so important that Christ Himself gives the promise of His special presence and blessing only to public worship. "Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them " (Matt. 18:20). One who says, "I don't need to worship God publicly, I can worship just as well on my own," is nothing more than a religious hypocrite. One who does not worship God publicly in reality does not worship God privately either. Public worship, the coming together as a church to hear the Gospel preached, is of utmost importance to the child of God. If a person can willingly and habitually absent himself from public worship, one of two things is true: (1) He is in a serious, spiritually sick condition. When one is physically sick he loses his appetite for food. When one is spiritually sick he loses his appetite for the Word preached. (2) He is lost. The true child of God delights in public worship, because true worship does something for him. True worship will draw us closer to Christ in communion, faith, love and obedience. It shows us Christ, it shuts us up to Christ, and it leaves us looking to Christ. If that is not the case, we have not truly worshipped. God uses public worship to cause us to grow in grace and the knowledge of Christ. It always inspires, increases, and enlarges the faith, submission, and consecration of the believer to Christ. We cannot do without public worship, anymore than we can go without food. Pastor Todd Nibert PREACHING THE GOSPEL Someone recently said to me, "That gospel preaching was not enough for him that he had to have more." Do we need more than the Lord has ordained? The Lord has ordained the preaching of the gospel for benefit of His elect, it has pleased God to do so (1Cor. 1:21). The Lord has instructed His ministers to feed the church of God that He purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28; 1Peter 5:2). When the Lord Jesus Christ asked Peter, "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?" Peter replied, "Yes, Lord thou knowest that I love thee." Then the Lord said, "Feed my lambs." (John 21:15). Paul charged Timothy to continue to preach Christ to all that will hear (2Tim. 4:1-4). To the believer resting in Christ, he never grows cold and indifferent to the very means the Lord has ordained to feed and bless His sheep. But rather is always eager and willing to sit quietly under the ministry of the Word and is patiently waiting to hear from the throne of glory ( Isa. 55: 8-11; Heb. 4:12).
