This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
Rick and I met this morning and talked about a great many things. We talked about Lanphier and the Prayer Revival of NYC. We talked about what we've been reading in the Word lately. Rick has been intrigued by the thought of the Father, Son, and Spirit dwelling in the life of a believer according to John 14:23. The manifest Presence of God. I mentioned those verses in 1 Kings 19 where the Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire. These are all manifestations of the Spirit's power that we find in Acts 2:2-3 and Acts 4:31. The thought being that the Lord doesn't necessarily manifest His Presence in the same way every single time in history. But after we talked and prayed together, we decided it may be time to make a change to our Zoom prayer times. We will continue to have our Saturday prayer calls at 10am EDT but we will no longer advertise the Monday to Friday prayer call at 12pm EDT. We will "officially" meet only on Saturdays. But I or Rick will still be available the other days for anyone who wishes to be there. We want to see the Lord work. But we want to see THE LORD work. Meaning, if God is in it, He will push it forward. We won't need to keep cajoling people to come. The emails will switch to weekly. If you want to join us in prayer daily, do so only as you are led of the Lord. Let us take this step and see what God will do.
