Sen. Ted Cruz tells Liberty University students to stand up for religious freedom
Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday told graduating students at Liberty University they should take a stand while religious liberty is under threat by the Obama administration’s birth-control mandate and immersed in other skirmishes at the intersection of faith and secular life.
The Supreme Court recently heard a challenge from two family-owned corporations that say the contraceptives mandate violates their religious beliefs, “a critical case that goes to the heart of religious freedom,” Mr. Cruz said in his convocation speech to the Christian college founded by the late pastor Jerry Falwell in Lynchburg, Va.
“How through the looking glass have we gone?” he said, that the government is now litigating with people defending their religious faith....
I have no problem with politicians giving real or imagined connection to religion, my problem again is with demagogues that use religion for their own purposes. Harry Truman was a Southern Baptist and Free Mason, and he turned out to be a good President.
The biggest problem with Ergun, is that he's an Arminian. Calvinism & Arminanism Contrasted. Considering that "Caner left LU in June 2011 to become Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Arlington Baptist College. The President of Arlington Baptist College, Dr. Dan Moody, stated that Caner's controversy was in the past and the new Vice President had his full confidence." excerpt from Ergun Caner. But, I think the biggest problem again he's an Arminian.
Yes, LU has another problem with demagogues giving speeches to them.
